2012 Transfer Chance Me! Thread

@Honey. I’ve added your UC-transfer courses but only ended up with 58 units. Your current 34 + 18 + 6 UC-Transferable courses only add up to 58. Unless if I’m missing something. UC’s are very strict about minimum 60 units UC-classes.

UCDrone:
In the past i have spoken to the councelors probably about 6 times. I always ask them for advice. They tell me not to over due myself because i always try to exceed the amount of units i can take. I only took 4 P.E courses and the point of taking them were just to de-stress my self and one of them was to earn a lifeguard+cpr title, i was just wondering if they counted towards my 60 units that are going to transfer. I have taken two Anthopology courses to where i recieved one A and one B them being ant1 and ant2. im done with my IGETC requiements im just working on my english right now. The reason that i took english so late was because i had to take pre-requisits to be able to take those english classes. I finished all of my math. For the class I ended up accepting the F because if i would have earned a D i would not be able to retake it. I know that i probably have no chance into getting into those schools, but i am trying. i feel pretty confident with my personal statements and with my outside of school activities. I just need some sort of motivation. Other than the F i have NO d’s i only have three C’s and the rest are just B’s and A’s. I do try my hardest but as a student, a first generation college student. i am always under a lot of pressure.

lawkin, you forgot about the 7 units im currently taking right night which with that ends up being 65 transferable units, it might end up being 66 units if i decide to take 19 units for spring instead of 18…

After everything, like after spring i have a chance of earning a minimun of a 3.2 gpa, if i dont take honors courses.

I know that i have less of a slim chance to get accepted…
and it sucks since i feel like i have worked so hard. this is only my second year and i have completed 5 semesters of school already and once i finish winter it will be 6. Right now im just so focused on school, i feel that if for some weird reason i do get accepted, i will feel like my hard work paid off. I feel like im stuck in a whole that i digged up and cant get out.

Lawlking: I just remember during fall when i spoke to a councelor they said that as long as the courses that you take during summer are NOT english or math, those courses will count but ill make sure of that next week when i make an appointment to speak to one again…

I’m sorry if I made you feel defensive. I know you are looking for encouragement, I apologize if I jumped to certain conclusions. I do wish you the best of luck in your applications.

UCdrone: don’t worry it happens funny thing i learned about that last week in my interpersonal communications class. but yeah its ok

quick question-

on our TAGs what GPA do the UC’s go by?
my Assist certified GPA is a 3.30
my highlighted overall GPA is 3.25

If It IS the Assist one i’m so stoked!! I used an online GPA calculator and it said I had a 3.29. But my tag is saying I have a 3.3. yeeeah buddy (;

also can someone chance me?

major- History of the united states
gpa- 3.3
IGETC completed
upward grade trend
last few grades on transcrpit:

psych1: A+
bio2: A
math25: A
engl1B: A
phil80: A-

never been on academic probation. low income family. ec’s are pretty weak. just a part time job and volunteering at an animal shelter. My ps was alright I mentioned that my interest in history comes from my late grandfather who faught in WW2 & he used to tell me stories & such.

I applied to:
SC (tag)
Davis
Riverside
Merced
SD
Davis
Irvine

I want to get accepted at least to Davis. San Diego I know will be a reach but If I got accepted there its my top choice. Chance me Pweeeez?

assist certified^^^^^^^^

also, is there a chance that the official UC app will calculate GPA’s differently then TAG? Bc Tag might have rounded my GPA i’m not suree… A 3.3 is waaay better than 3.29 in my eyes.

Impressive! Can you provide the address for the online GPA calculator?

here it is :)

http:/
/www.college-scholarships.
com/onlinecollegegpa_
calculator.htm

idk why but it blocks out the website when i post it
but thats the link no spaces^^

UChappytrain: why do you think UCSD is a long shot? It’s only a long shot if your major is impacted and your major is not. If you have a 3.25, I’d say you have a slim chance. But a 3.3…I’d say you have a good chance.

bc on my other thread some person mentioned a GPA floor. If they set it at 3.3 or 3.4 or even higher I won’t get in. idk if my GPA is 3.3 or 3.29 bc tag might have rounded it & idk if the official uc app will also round.

But you’re probably right, idk. college confidential has taught me to see the glass half empty. lol

So does any one know any tips that can help someone with very low hope?

Sent from my Desire HD using CC App

UChappytrain: can’t agree more  but honestly. They accept 8000 people. And out of that 8000, only 1000 accept UCSD as their choice. Even with a 3.29, you have a good shot. Last years cutoff was 3.23. My counselor told me I’m 90% in with a 3.3. Both counselors said so :-)

Honeyflower: I think you should take it easy. Is this your second year in college?

thanks acoustickitty(: you’re the nicest person on college confidential & you’re also probably the most helpful. I hope you get accepted to everywhere you applied
