Acoustickitty: Yes its my second year, but i really want to transfer. I just need two more courses for my major and then im done. Idk what i would do if i didnt get accepted. If my gpa goes from a 2.82 to a 3.08 after winter, will they look at that and notice and maybe increase my chances? I feel so sad in a way. like uchappytrain im begining to see things half empty lol

my tag for ucsc was approved back in fall & I had exactly a 3.08 at the time. don’t fret - it’s not as hard as you think it is to get into a UC. Just speak with your counselor as much as you can make sure youre on track to complete IGETC & pre reqs. I had a scare earlier this semester bc I thought I needed a class that I wasn’t able to register for, for IGETC. I thought all hope was lost but I spoke with a counselor as soon as I could & she said my IGETC was already completed for UC’s and I had been looking at a different IGETC sheet for nursing or something lol. so yeah just keep your head up & get good grades :)

Aw thank you
and likewise! Best wishes. Don’t lose hope. You have a great GPA!

uchappytrain: your super sweet<3 but yeah i just have that stress right now. im working my hardest but it feels like nothing i do is working. and im scared because i know that people with amazing gpa’s also applied to the schools i did so im pretty sure the uc’s would preferr them over my gpa. fall 2011 just wasnt my semester.

after looking at your normal gpa, will the uc’s look at your major’s gpa?

thanks ak!
@hf I’m sure there’s a spot for you at at least one UC. Why would they deny you if they have space & could bank off of you? lol & even if you don’t get in there’s always next year! & then you could TAG too :)

uchappytrain: yeah your right, but i dont know what i would do another year there. will the uc’s look at your spring gpa? or will their decisions be done by then?

from everyone’s posts on here, I don’t think they look at spring grades. UCR admits low GPA applicants all the time though! just keep your fingers crossed. is your major non-impacted?

Yeah they dont use spring grades to determine your admission. Admissions come out before. They also don’t use winter grades.

@uchappytrain

Do you know how accurate that GPA calculator is? I used another one before but when I tried your link I went from a 3.416 to a 3.47. Not a HUGE difference but I definitely prefer the second figure as it is closer to a 3.5…

The average admitted GPA for my major last year was a 3.56

@allfields no I don’t know how accurate it is. it’s weird bc your gpa went up and mine went down lol. but there’s a way to calculate your gpa by hand! I witnessed one of my counselor do it. try googling that & you’ll have a definite answer for your gpa. the only thing I’m confused about is if uc’s round…

and make sure you’re putting in the - & + symbols cause they affect you gpa a lottt

Uchappytrain: unfortunately I did not apply to ucr and ok. Well ill just have to hope for the best.

I always calculate it by hand I think that comes out to be more sccurate

@hf if you don’t get accepted try looking up how to apply for spring semester next year so you don’t have to wait that long.

That’s a really good idea but I thought that only csu’s had that option.
