2012 Transfer Chance Me! Thread

UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI.

TAG for UCSD.

GPA: 4.0
Major: Economics (Business Economics for UCLA)

IGETC done, 4/5 major prerequisites will be done by the end of this semester (Assist.org says that the missing course “is not articulated” at any local CC).

EC:
-Phi Theta Kappa member.
-current 20 hr/week job for property management.
-interned 40 hr/week in the summer for a real estate office.
-lots of HS and current volunteer work.

@hharsono,
I would say your chances look great. A close friend of mine had a very similar application for UCLA and USC this past fall, and got into both schools.

4.0 = 99.5%… in

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/article/26948

I think you guys should take a look at this. The mean GPA of UCSD 2012 transfer applicants is a 3.3 GPA.

And the amount of transfer applicants that have applied to UCSD this year has decreased. THANK THE LAWD

Schools applied to: UCLA, UC Berkeley
Major: Economics
GPA: 3.90

-Out of state student
-Weak extracurriculars, weak essay
-Rigorous courses (honors and upper division for the most part)
-High family income, not applying for financial aid

@acoustickitty: “the average GPA among transfer applicants is 3.33” :000 that made me less stressed! but doesn’t mean anything until i get an acceptance letter! lol 2-3 more months now!
@godsgift: in at ucla for sure! my friend had like 3.87 and got accepted! probably in for ucb too!

So, the number of transfer applicants went down slightly, but the average GPA (it was a 3.29 last year) of applicants went up? Cuuuuuurious. I wonder why.

applying to UCSD/UCLA/UCB/UCD

major: electrical engineering
GPA: 3.70 even
major GPA: 3.87
i finished all my calc series, linear algebra, differential, and physics series by fall '2011, and now i’m just taking extra classes like o-chem and bio and c++.
EC: licensed pharmacy technician, volunteer at hospital, intern at small bio company

do you think the 3.7 flat is competitive enough for sd/la (applying to berkeley is just checking off the list :P)

Applying to: UCSC (1st Choice), UCSB, UCM, UCI, UCR
Major: Marine Bio/Bio-related
GPA: 3.54

I have taken some major prep at my first university (Colorado State), things like GenChem 1, Bio 1, etc). I am currently at a CCC finishing up my Calc series, but have not been able to progress in Bio/GenChem because we do not have classes articulated at my CC or surrounding CC’s. GenEd will be done by the end of Spring '12. Above-average personal statement.

EC: Some volunteer experience, lots of academic awards (won a scholarship at my last university), work experience (not career related), etc.

The only thing I’m a little worried about is the fact that 1 or 2 of my classes might not transfer from Colorado State to the UC’s (mainly, UCSC), as the admissions rep pointed to 1 or 2 of them when I met with her, mainly focusing on one of them. I picked up a credit booster class (3 units) to hopefully avoid falling under 60 units, in case one does not transfer…that would be detrimental!

What are my chances? Thanks!

@asphyxiac and @mrmustache I KNOW! weird…how it’s a 3.33…thank god I have a 3.34 LOL so close.

But I do wonder why it went up…Hm. It can be a good thing because if the average applicants last year had a 3.29…I saw a lot of 3.2s getting accepted…and 3.3s I think it’s a good sign.

I guess last year there were more lower GPA applicants than this year. Wonder what the cutoff will be :open_mouth: Hope it’s a 3.25 or something.

Guys I have a question.

I am going to a Cal State University right now, but I did terrible first semester with only 6 units.
(Had a lot of family issues, dad got a heart attack and surgery, I was feeling home sick, couldn’t get the classes I wanted, just overall cr*p).

I’m in my 2nd semester right now with 12 units and I think I’ll do pretty good.

I’m going to be transferring to my local CC back home this summer.

What I’m wondering is, how will my previous grades from the current Cal State Uni. I go to affect my GPA and units when I’m transferring from CC to a UC in the future???

Please answer!!!

I have to make a decision whether or not I should stay here in CSU (which I really don’t want to do don’t ask why)

or to go ahead with my plan and transfer down to my local CC and then transfer to a UC.

Preferably UCSB, UCR, UCI.

tonystark, that’s the question that everybody who went to csu to cc wants to know. And we won’t ever know only the school’s dean. It really is up to the dean to evaluate how our untis will transfer into our cc gpa or if they even will transfer!

i made up the f and the d i got at csula at a cc, so you should do that if you have any bad grades just to make sure.

@TonyStark, I transferred from Colorado State University to a CCC last fall. On my transcript, they averaged my GPA between what I earned in Colorado and what I earned this last fall. Ultimately, it is up to what your CC determines transfers from the CSU to CC…you don’t know until you actually go!

wow acoustic, great link. I can only guess that the drop from transfers to UC equates to a rise in transfers to CSU’s.

Thats good news for our class that as a whole, transfer applicant numbers are DOWN.

That link should be a sticky for 2012 transfers.

Is Business major hard to get into at UCSB?

What would you guys say is the top 5 easiest majors to get into UC Santa Barbaral???

Lookin4ward: I AGREE! If this years mean GPA of transfer applicants to UCSD is a 3.3…I wonder what the cutoff for non impacted majors is…hmm

geeez january was sooo slow!

february is here, almost time!

Still hoping to be chanced if anybody would be so kind as to take a look. I appreciate it! :)

Kingdomsroa: you’re not a regular CCC student since you took courses at CSU. I would say with that GPA, you’ll get into all the schools you applied to even UCI. You have a good GPA. Your major is impacted at irvine idk about the other schools. I’ve seen a few people get in with GPAs similar to yours with a bio major

And UCKitty, tell me about it. February will FLY on by since well be busy with spring semester.
