Maintain 3.6 GPA before summer class. However, my father got lung cancer. I messed up my summer classes. got B B C grades. I am going to explain it and improve my grades at fall quater to show what I’ve done.

hi, i’m a international student studying ccc.

Units taken: 33
GPA: 4.0 (only class I’m worrying about is the Engl 5 this fall semester)
Major: Apply as Mathmeatics, will double with Econ or Stat

Don’t have SATI but have SAT subject tests - 800 in math, 800 in physics, 770 in chemistry, but I don’t think UC cares about SATs.

Probably will not consider campus other than UCB or UCLA in cali
also thinking about applying for Stern(NYU), Cornell, UPenn(give a shot, don’t really expect it)

some concerns about ECs, some volutneers with Onebrick, haven’t worked since college, trying to but the budget cut leave almost no position open at the campus (international student only can work at the campus). Joined some clubs, planning to applying for a position in student government. Pretty much everything.

I consult the transfer center in Cal, and they said my chance for Berkeley is good. How about the school out of state, like the school above?

Hi everyone,
I’m pretty of new to this forum and just wanted to see if someone can chance me.

Currently a CCC student.
Current GPA: 3.27
Projected GPA:3.44 (by end of fall)
Major GPA: 3.2
Units: 76
Major: Computer Engineering
TAG: UCSD via University Link, UCSB
IGETC: Completed
Applying: UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCR,

EC
Club President during CC
Associated Student Senator for 1 year
Medical Internship for one month
Hospital Volunteer for one year
Played guitar in a Music Ensemble

Work Experience
Sign Spinning for two years (lol, got to make money somehow)

Only Problem
The only problem that I’m concerned about is that I would be missing the last physics class in the series. I know schools like UCSD don’t require it, but will not finishing it hurt my chances?

great ec’s. & interest so some other schools besides just UCLA/UCB.

1.UCR
2.UCSB
3.UCI
4.UCSD

regarding TAG, i believe you will be granted it to UCSD honestly, especially with you saying that UCSD doesn’t require it, and i am sure that is your #1 choice because you are obviously in the SD area & you are speaking about UCSD the most throughout your post.

just work hard and WANT UCSD, and I am sure you will prosper. Do well in your courses, nothing lower than a B. You also get a PLUS because you have that IGETC completed, so you will see yourself at the least UCI with myself (hopefully) next year.

@mattinber what country are you from? Nice GPA, I think you have a 80%+ chance at both UCB and UCLA with that GPA and in one of the lower scoring majors (mathematics!!). I would also recommend going the private college route via Cornell, Vanderbilt, Stanford and ect. You seem to have a remarkable GPA, just attempt to do some community service and write a decent essay then you should definitely be in most colleges you apply to. Good luck on your future endeavors! :)

Applying to: UCSB, UCLA, UCD, USI as a history major.
TAG: to UCSB as history major

Current School: CCC
GPA as of summer 2011: 3.64
IGETC: will be finished by winter 2012
Pre-reqs: english, math, and major all done.

ECs: History club, Sunday school teacher, part-time job. (I dont have may EC’s due to working hours and school, do you think this will affect me?)

Personal statement coming along nicely I been in the Dean’s honor list twice in a row, should i include that in my essay?

nice GPA. congrats on IGETC completion. a lot of you have that completed, i should have did that as well. EC’s not stellar but well better than my own. Sunday school teacher = +1,000,000 though, can’t hate on a person spreading the teachings.

regarding TAG, you should already know you will more than likely be approved for that. What is USI? UCD should be for sure, UCLA, I’m guessing should be a go for a history major, especially with math/english & major pre reqs completed. what is the cause for the 3.64 though, have you been on an upward trend as of lately or what? if so, that will better your chances. I believe if you write an excellent essay you will be accepted to UCLA.

however if you choose UCSB, don’t get distracted by its parties (typical right?)

@uckittychen… Thanks for replying. I meant to write UC Irvine not USI lol. The 3.64 gpa is actually my overall gpa, taking into account some non-transferable math courses. If UC’s only take into account transferable gpa (still unsure about that one) then I have a 3.78 for that.

Hey guys. I’m going to apply to CAL, UCLA, and USC, USF, and Santa Clara U as a transfer this fall. I am going into college with 32 credits from local universities and colleges. I will be attending a top 75 four year private school in the Midwest.

MAJOR: UCB - political science UCLA - economics USC - business administration
GPA: 3.5 (after first semester 3.6667)
UNITS: 63 by May 2012
EXTRACURRICULARS: A TON - church, volunteering, student government, jobs, leadership programs (one at Georgetown), and the list goes on
OTHER: A lot of employment, honors, ec’s
PERSONAL STATEMENT: VERY good, about my struggles with ADHD without medication and how I have persevered. The other is about my political involvement with the Obama 08 campaign and how much I learned from my 6th month internship.
PREREQUISITES: All done

My DREAM school is Cal. That’s where I want to go and I would go there in a second if I get in. Either way I’m headed to Cali next year Please be honest with my chances!!

@UCHopeful12 I’m from China. Can you give me some suggestion for community service? If I don’t have many impressive things, would that hurt my chance? I’m taking 20 units this semester, I hope I can have enough spare time. I absent last fall semester so I need to finish in 1 and half yr.
