@tony I have a friend from highschool who goes there and she’s going on her fourth year… but idk if it’s bc she’s stupid and fails everything or if it’s bc she cant get very many classes.
also, there’s been multiple threads about this. everyone hears that smc has “the most transfers” to uc’s. they have more students than any other community college. Plus, uc’s dont care which community college you go to. they all look the same in their eyes.

^ SMC has the most transfers to UCs because SMC has a **** ton of overcrowded people! LOL

■■■ man.

I’m so confused.

So since this is my 1st year in college, and I’m leaving to go to CC for 1 year to transfer into a UC.

is that even possible since you apply as a transfer student 1 year before.

For example I wanna transfer for Fall 2013, I’d be applying late Fall 2012, but I’ll barley have 21 units.

Plus SMC is crowded idk if Ill even get the classes i need to complete IGETC.

■■■ IM SO CONFUSED ■■■

HELPPPPPPPPPPP

IM SO CONFUSED.

I DONT WANNA STAY HERE IN CAL STATE

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PLEASE SOMEONE CLEAR THIS UP FOR ME
AKSLDJF;LKASDJ;FKLAJS;DLKFJ;ASLDKFJ;LASKDJF;LKS

@ why confused?
you only need 60 units, if u get it then yes, if not then no. Simple.
There are a tons of CCC out there, not only smc. Why do you want to give urself such headache? Why do you love smc so much? have a gf went there or something? haha.
and plus UC treat all CCC equally so there is no need to focus ur option on one ccc.

I’m still confused as to how i’ll transfer for Fall 2013 when you apply in late Fall 2012.

I’ll barley have 21 units at the time I’m applying.

Can someone clear it up for me

@tony. Initially having 21 units is ok. I had 23 units when I applied on fall11 for fall12. I attended winter and I’m going to attend spring. All those units for me are going to add up to more than60 units after spring. Ur ok

Sent from my Desire HD using CC

@Tony look at what kingdoms said earlier ^^^ just look up each uc’s policy individually. I keep a notebook with all of my important info in it,you should do the same. o bookmark the websites. it’s not hard to figure **** out just do a little research. you have more than enough time to figure everything out befor you transfer.

@uchappytrain

I am about to transfer out of SMC after just two years. I also had 9 units from another school, but I will be transferring with 68, so I will have 59 from SMC.

I don’t think it is too hard to get classes, especially if your schedule is flexible. I work 30 hours a week, and my schedule was NOT flexible, and I was still able to get it done in two years (including 2 levels of math before I got to a college level math!). I have taken one winter class, and then rest in the fall/spring semesters.

I don’t understand why people always say how crowded it is. Yes, parking sucks. But it is not impossible to get classes.

@happytrain

Uh. That’s not what I’m asking lol.

What I’m asking is it possible for me to accomplish what I want to.

Also, I don’t see how I can apply to UCSB with TAG/IGETC with only 15 Units from CSU, and 6 units frm CC.

lol.

@ikeike

Can I send you a private message?

I’m planning on going to SMC, from CSU right now.

@tony sure, go for it.

@ikeke since you’ve been there consistently go two years your registration date is prob higher than new students. new students like tonystark won’t get priority reg, making harder for him to transfer in one year.

@Tony I’m just saying to research your problem yourself bc I don’t think anyone can give you a straight answe since every uc’s policy varies.

and all the spelling mistakes are due to my iPhone!

Okay, what I still don’t understand is.

Why is it hard for me to transfer for Fall 2014.

And how do people transfer from a CC to UC after only 2 years when you’re supposed to apply with only what 30 units 1 year prior.

I don’t understand.

I don’t see why it would be hard for you to tansfer for fall 2014, you have plenty of time to get things done

Last fall I applied for TAG to UCSC. I had 34 units exactly. after Fall, I had completed 14 units. Taking me to 48. This spring ( my cc is on the semester system) I am taking 14 more units, taking me to exactly 60. wait my math is wrong. all I know is I will have 60 units after spring. maybe last fall I had 36 or something idk.

go to Assit.org, plan out what classes you are going to take for your major. Find a cc that offers these courses. complete IGETC. get 60 units.

Look up which uc’s have a unit cap for students who have previously attended a four year university, as kingdoms said. <– thats a big deal.

the end.

@Tony: The rate in which one would graduate in 4 years is 15 units/semester (I dunno what the ratio is/if its different from the quarter system). If you apply a year in advance with 30 units under your belt already, within the next year, you should have taken another 30 units. So it makes sense that you should only have about 30 units when you apply as a UC junior transfer. I applied with only 27 units, but by the time I’m done, I’ll have over 60. Does that make sense?

Also…I’m just going to keep on lurking and insert random comments into where I feel necessary. :D

oh I had 32 units when I applied for TAG. duh.
