2012 UC Housing Thread

so based on where you live, cost of housing will seriously determine how much debt you will graduate with. So choose wisely. If you get a lot of grant money, f-it…live in a dorm. you get food, don’t have to worry about utilities, gas, super fast internet (probably the only thing I cannot live without lol)…

if you don’t get a lot of money, find some super cheap off campus alternatives. You might be able to snag a house with 3 or 4 roommates for 5-600 bucks.

I think avg debt load for graduating with a degree should be around 20k. Maybe 25k in california with all the budget cuts. That’s why I have said before, if you do not want to do research, u just want to go to school and your profession doesn’t care about the prestige of school you go to…cal state could be a better (cheaper) option.

If your debt load will be higher (it could be) seriously consider if your major will get you a job to pay off the debt. If not, seriously make sure you know what you are doing before you sign the dotted line to commit to any loans and living arrangements.
