2012 UC-to-UC Transfer Thread

I’m from UCSC, accepted to SB 3/19

so spring quarter just started today and i am still deciding between a couple classes to cover my last GE which will give me UC reciprocity. the deadline to add a class is the end of 2nd week (13th) and the deadline to drop a class without a W is the end of 4th week (27th), so there is a chance that my schedule will not be finalized until after all transfer decisions come out. should i wait until after i am accepted (if i am accepted) to let the UCs (UCLA and UCB) know which GE i am taking? or should i let them know as soon as i finalize my schedule? it just seems weird to be notifying the UCs of a GE course change a couple days before the decisions come out… im not sure if it would make a difference if I just let them know afterwards. thanks in advance!

many people are transferring out of UCSC…is UCSC not a good place…can students who went to UCSC please answer this for me??

UCSC is a great place, its just people have their own opinions about it. Some people love it, some hate it, all for various reasons. For me one of my main reasons was because I didn’t like how everything was split up into small communities/colleges. It just wasn’t the type experience that I wanted or liked. I also didn’t like relying on the bus system 90% of the time, especially on the weekends when its extremely slow. But its a beautiful campus and has a lot of places to explore/take pictures at.

You also notice that there is a lot of people who do go to UCSC because they “got rejected everywhere else”. It hurts and people dont want to waste the opportunity of going to a UC, so they just end up going here wanting to transfer to a different UC, which could explain why theres a lot of people going somewhere else. I imagine this can be applied to the newer UCs as well.

Rejected to UCLA. No decision on SD yet.

ACCEPTED to UCLA from UCSD!
major: computer science
all prereqs completed w/ uc reciprocity
im kind of in shock as well… UCLA has always been my dream school, but it’ll be hard to start over at a new UC…

thanks ZEO,

but i guess you are right…and i guess its like that at every college

Anyone else waiting for decisions from UCSD?
