@beachgirl8 LOL, Did you pick every location with a beach and apply there, because that’s what I did. Haha. That’s funny but yeah I tagged and I’m pretty sure I met all the requirements. I just want to know now and be put at ease!! I’ll definitely be checking Saturday. Thanks for the info!

iDizzle: cause your brother is so cool! that could also be a pre-requisite variable at work. and like you say, who knows what will happen. certainly my wild speculation is just wild speculation.

So hypothetically speaking, a person that isn’t UCB/LA material will also be rejected from schools like SC? I really thought it would be the other way around where SC rejects the student since he/she will most likely get into UCB/LA.

@jdom
cool chart. now i can obsess on that as a new distraction! thanks

Hey did any of you guys get an EOP acceptance email from UCSB? My friend just sent me the email. Isn’t this the program that gives you extra aid and also priority enrollment? So jealous right now

Congratulations on your admission to the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at UCSB, a service much loved and utilized by UCSB students! You expressed interest in EOP on your UC application, or we determined that you were eligible, and we have accepted you into EOP at UCSB.

well, not necessarily. it could be that UCSC takes kids that UCB and UCLA rate as level 3 (qualified for admission) while UCB and UCLA only take those who rate 1 (highly recommended for admission) or 2 (recommended for admission). who knows.

it does not bother me because CAL and UCLA are my top choices and i believe they are reviewing my application carefully. but it could be less beneficial to kids who really want to attend UCSC or UCSB. in that case, they should appeal and then their essays will probably be read.

one parent complained because she wanted an application refund from the schools that did not read her son’s application.

@northbeach yeah I see. I actually got an email from ucla regarding some info about HS earlier this year so they might already have some of our decisions ready to be released or something…

I got that EOP e-mail, I don’t fully understand it but I’m glad (?) lol. SIRed to SB today (: Havent heard from SD and Irvine but I dont really care, I feel like I’d be happiest at SB.

I was trying to fill out my SLR but I dont know which options to selecf for my father (deceased). Has anybody filled out an SLR with a deceased parent? The lady I called had no idea either lol

Anyone waiting on Computer Science decisions?

I tagged and have all the requirements, but I’m still pending.

@chelz
yes, they know, and we do not. bwahahaha.
anyway, i will be happy at UCSB if ucla rejects me.

no EOP email for me. did you guys accept your admission yet?
i do have EOPS (same thing) at my current CCC. would be
great to have that early enrollment at a UC.

@randroid
man that sucks. i am sorry to hear it. i did not tag anywhere
because it looked so complicated and they did not offer tags
to UCB or UCLA at my school. only davis and santa cruz.

@NorthBeach, - So, I got into UCSB, but I TAG’d, so I was guaranteed admission. UCM still has not given me an answer so what do I speculate from that? It would seem that If this process is true, then I would have received admission to UCM at the same time I received my admission to UCSB. Unless of course TAG students are done entirely different. Then I would be worried that I have yet to hear from UCM, because I applied at UCLA and they must be prepping to deny me, so UCM will end up denying me too with that logic correct?
Now I am definitely disturbed. I want UCLA with a passion. If I get UCLA, all the other stress from waiting on other schools will go away. Don’t get me wrong, a huge chunk of anxiety left me when I got my admittance to UCSB, but UCLA, man. That is of course taking into account that Brown will most likely deny me. Gotta shoot the ball to get a basket right?

i dont think EOP give you prior reg does it?

@norcal…why are you worried about UCM…practically everyone gets admitted to UCM…anyone would choose UCSB over UCM

@Samurai92, i am worried because of what Northbeach is saying about UCB/LA reviewing apps. I don’t really care about UCM unless I were to get a different amount of aid at UCM. Other than that a denial at UCM may mean a forthcoming denial of UCLA.

And if everyone gets admitted, why have i not yet been admitted. That’s what worries me.

@Norcaltransfer77
it is impossible to know exactly how the admissions process has been conducted. each case and each student is still quite unique. if your stats are good (GPA) and you finished the UCLA prerequisites, you have a great chance, or a fair chance, to get into that school. all i have heard is that UCLA is heavily dependent on Prereqs and GPA. but i have not been admitted, so what do i really know?

the TAG at UCSB should have made a big difference for your admission, right? i mean otherwise what the heck is a TAG for? but i have seen some TAGs on this thread who have been rejected from UCSB. that shows you how lucky we are.

either way, UCSB is ranked as a Top Ten public school in the entire country by the US News and World Report. their stats have skyrocketed, and their graduate history department was ranked by the National Research Council above UCB, UCLA, and Yale last year. i would like to go to UCLA because i can work down in LA and i am dreadfully tired of being poor while taking classes. but you know what! now that UCSB has accepted me, i just love UCSB. the fact that they accepted us means that they believe that we are good students and will contribute to their school–and in this way they will support us and help us to do well. also, santa barbara is a great place to live. less smog than LA and much more beautiful than the East Bay (cal). guess we can just relax and wait for the 27th? good luck!

@northbeach Thats how I feel about UCSB too. In November, I originally applied there for a backup, almost as an afterthought. I wasn’t invested in the school at all and kind of forgot about it until I got an email telling me to check the admissions portal. After I got accepted I started looking more into the school and fell in love with it!

I had no idea how selective it was and while rankings should be taken with a grain of salt, its still cool to see it ranked in the top ten public universities in the country! I think SB is underrated by the general public but I don’t care - I do not regret SIRing to SB (while I am still pending at UCI and UCSD - that’s how much I now love UCSB!) and I cant wait to begin my education down there.

^ @randroid
exactly, we are so lucky. UCSB is a fantastic school. and the UC system has so many opportunities available. check out the study abroad programs. UCSB had more kids accepted to the Study abroad programs than any other UC in the system too.

@Chelzmcnamara
I also got accepted into the EOP program at UCSB. It was a bit surprised for me when I check my email this morning because I don’t recall applying for it. Though I don’t really know what benefits will the EOP be offering. I know for sure they will provide students aid for books and such, but I doubt they will give priority registration. Anyways, this is a good news XD since I plan to go to SB.

^ at my school in the EOPS (same program) we get book vouchers and early registration, one week ahead of the other students. fortunately as transfers we will not be competing as hard to get into General Ed classes, like the freshmans. one thing to look forward too!
