♠ 2012 UCSB Transfer Decisions Thread ♠

I SIRed on the 6th (: Havent even heard back from UCI or UCSD but I have my mind set on SB. San Raf is my preferred res hall too (8 person suite!)

Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using CC

The SB drive was a pain in the butt and a hassle. I had to deal with the 101 traffic then the 405 traffic. And somebody rear ended me on the way back. I’m dreading driving back to SB.

@lawl- I’m in traffic right now on the 101 in Hollywood…sorry to hear about the rear ending :/

fionuhh, are you going to dorm at Manzanita or San Rafael? If I do attend, I’ll be choosing Manzanita. They got a pool for their residents, and you possibly get an ocean or lagoon view room.

And, fionuhh, when you submit your SIR, did you log into the applicant account or the admitted account (The UCSB site has two tabs, applicant/admit)? I’m just wondering because the paper in the admit packet tells us to go to the admitted one.

Links please iamsocal

@ lawlking & Citiz3n: Hell, I hate the 101 and the 405 traffic! And citiz3n, I don’t think you should be on here while your driving. LOL

Haha, don’t worry I wasn’t driving  but yes, both those fwys suck! Going up there wasn’t bad at all though

I went to UCSB today with my family for Spring insight or “open house”. And I must say, the campus is freaking gorgeous. Last night I was looking around on Google map to see how UCSB really looks like. It didn’t really impress me from the pictures, but I’m an idiot for jumping into conclusion anyways. But yeah, 5 minutes going in to the campus, I was mind blown. Campus is very clean, and those buildings are just really well designed. Faculties and the students there were nice and helpful; they even greeted us with smiles when we walk by. Also, the campus was very lively. Many activities were going on! I think this school might be the perfect fit for me xD

As for the housing, I can’t even decide where I would want to spend my first year. It’s a toss up between Manzanita Village and San Rafael. I like Manzanita Village because it looks very clean and it has a great view of the beach, but I was told that lots of freshman students will be living there ._. San Rafael isn’t so bad either.

^^ Yesterday I went to hollywood to run some errands, than to UCLA to pick up my brother than took him back to my parents house in chino hills. I left at 9:30AM thinking that I would be cheating the traffic hours, F was I wrong! It was traffic in all directions, there wasn’t a single part of my drive that was smooth. I didn’t get back until 3:30PM! One thing I’ve been thinking about is if I got into UCLA, I would be kind of apprehensive to go just because of how bad the traffic is in the area. >=|

^^only way to beat the 101 and 405 traffic = drive early in the morning or anytime past midnight. I was on the freeway by 7 am.

Anytime after those hours = traffic. Even on weekends. Doesn’t help that California population is +33 million–more populated than the entire country of Canada itself

And it was a friday!! Yeah, if I got into LA I am deff going to consider moving out there… I cannot imagine driving in traffic all the time. Plus, it’ll take away from the positive experience.

@fallingdown: yeah the campus left an impression on me too. Even my family said I should go! Before they were against me moving, but they loved the campus and area so much.

@FallingDown, Thanks for the vivid account, It makes me happy to think that If all else falls through, I will still be attending an excellent and beautiful school this fall! No more community College!

@norcaltransfer77 YUP! I’ve been a student at CC for almost 3 years now. It’s time to get the hell out of here. So looking forward to attend to UCSB. I CAN ALMOST FEEL IT!

Is it still possible to get in ? I didn’t apply for ucsb. but on the ucsb website it says you can write a letter to AD, and they will grant you the chance to apply based on your quality. But am I too late to do this? All of the transfer offer should be done by May.1…

@^^^SXIANG1992^^^ Not sure about this, I know that in-state student transfers had to apply last November. Might as well call them Monday and ask, all they can say is no sorry, apply next November. Good luck.

@ sxiang1992: I have no clue. I’ve NEVER heard of anyone trying to apply 2 weeks before the admission decision deadline. You’re almost 6 months late. lol. But yeah like norcaltransfer was saying, the worst they can say is “no”.

@Iamsocal Manzanita is my top choice b/c I have a friend that lives there and she said it’s newer and you have a possible chance of a beach view! (I mainly chooose it b.c it’s

When I SIR’ed I did it in the Applicant–>Transfer. I don’t think it matters which one you choose though

@fionuhh
waiting for davis, ucla, and cal.

santa barbara is a great place to live! you will love it. wish i could have been there yesterday for the open house. btw, did you pay a deposit? i am wondering how much it is. thanks!

@idizzle isn’t the admissions deadline on June 1st?

sorry if this is a stupid question i dont care…does financial aid only show up after you SIR?
