^ my unofficial award letter just appeared on the website,
and i was accepted in the first batch. no SIR. cheers.

but I can’t get a UCSBnetID until I SIR and i need the UCSBnetID to check my financial aid…

fionuhh, yeah, if I do attend, I’ll definitely pick Manzanita Village because the beach view rooms are nice.

Oh, I was just wondering because the admit packet paper states we should go to the admitted transfer one. I wasn’t sure if there was a difference between the two. UCSB housing applications didn’t start yet, right?

It starts now. IT’s due by June 1 I think

@northbeach

the deposit is $100, but i deferred it to my fall payments. You could only pay with echeck or check

@IAmSoCal

hmm yeah I don’t think it really makes a difference? B/c when you SIR it sends you to a separate link and yeah.

But I think housing applications don’t start til later. It says it opens on May 1st

[Housing Application Closed](http://appl.housing.ucsb.edu/HousingApplications/99_application_closed.aspx)

fionuhh, oh, alright. Thanks. Is the $100 dollars you were referring to the deposit for the SIR? If it is, I noticed you said echeck and check so that means we can’t pay in debit/credit card?

no credit card or debit. only checking account

@AB12345
you don’t need the special account to check your aid.
just log into your account where they show the acceptance:

<a href=“UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login”>UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login;

it takes a while, but eventually there will be a link that appears on the left side that says: unofficial award letter.

my link showed up about one week after i was accepted, but it only said “we have received your fafsa info…”. then 48 hours ago they posted the specs for my aid. i was accepted in the first batch, so however long ago that was till two days ago. blabbidy blah, hope that makes sense?

@fionuhh
that is great. 100 dollars and we can defer it. i was expecting it to be much higher. thanks for posting!

thank you so much!

Yea got admitted today as a Econ/Acct Major, (i might change over to econ/math) this news made my day! =)

Wait, what do you mean defer? Accoring to this page from their site:

http://appl.housing.ucsb.edu/contracts/contract_rates_2011.pdf

There is a $180 contract processing and administrative fee. Do you mean you can hold off on that payment until the fall starts?

One more question you guys might know the answer to, in the quarter system do you receive your finical aid each quarter or all at once?

@Jiggalow
that is awesome! congratulations.

@Northbeach- Thank You! That’s one thing off my back

I still haven’t heard back and I have a high gpa i am tired of waiting. Should I call them?

@ ineedtissues93: If you don’t have any math or English requirements in-progress and you have most pre-reqs finished than I wouldn’t worry. Just give it a few more days =]

I actually have quite a few prereqs for math and science I am taking this semester. I didn’t know that could hurt me, but I guess I will wait.

^^ Well what is your major? By math pre-reqs I mean like statistics or something. The most basic math and english requirements. If you have these in progress you will likely be rejected. If you’re an engineering major or something I don’t think the upper division math stuff will hurt you as much. But I’m not an engineering major so I really don’t know. But there have been a few people on here with extremely high gpas that were rejected because they had their most basic math and english requirements still IP this semester.

I am a psych major and am taking chem stats and bio 1 this semester and I have had a 4.0 thus far.
