General Comments: If I know Mary as well as I think I do, she’ll invite us right in for tea and strumpets

@San Francisco Kid. I’ve noticed you did not complete English and Math requirements. I remember my counselor telling me that finish your English and Math requirements before you apply is very important. I guess what they said was true?? Could it be thats the reason why?

I was told it wasn’t that important as long as I finished it by end of Spring. I scored high on my AP exam. My first counselor enrolled me in classes that weren’t UC transferable which really didn’t help me at all. Could they really reject me because of that? I thought first batch rejects were one’s who were totally unqualified?!

well I have a math disability so I repeated remedial math several times. I’m 100% on all other subjects. I only had one english left…reject someone based on that? REALLY? I have a physical handicap also, so way to go UCSB. what do I do? I have no school to go to. might as well find a bridge.

[/ul]General Comments: I’m still pending for SD, so I’m so glad I made it into the 1st batch! I’ve been biting my nails anxiously for weeks.

@irvine Pretty stoked although you got into Econ/Accounting. my first choice was Econ. Good thing about SB is i can always still try to get into Econ later

@nsws - for reals, if I wasnt admitted for this first batch I would’ve been so bummed. I was almost certain I’d have to wait, since I have to wait for irvine and sd…

@SanFranciscoKid: A bunch of people call and ask! And they’ll give you a response like “well the cutoff was X.XX and you didnt meet it” and you’ll say I have a feeling you made a mistake on my application. My friend got rejected last year because they didn’t receive her Fall 2011 grades. Mistakes happen and you should give them a call…that’s if you care about attending UCSB.

Rejected from UCSB
GPA: 3.6
Major: Anthro
Essay: 10/10
IGETC: will be completed at the conclusion of this semester
ECs: General volunteer work during my high school years… worked in Europe for a year… “overcome hardships” and all that good stuff.

My last English and Math class are both IP… maybe that’s a problem? Nobody ever expressed to me the importance of completing math and english early- I always thought IGETC was IGETC- just have it done by the end of the spring semester before transferring.

Guess this kills my chances at UCLA as well? Or do I still have a chance since they don’t have the TAG program? I hear their admissions are very major-specific, and anthropology isn’t exactly impacted… but I may just be in some “pathetically hopeful” grieving stage after my UCSB rejection.

^^thats crappy. Your GPA is good. I would see if they have an appeals process or maybe even try talking to a counselor to see. My math is actually IP right now so i’m not sure how accurate that info is about getting them both done early. My english classes were complete my Freshman year though.

Decision: Rejected

[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: The only reason why I can think of, is because SBCC, where I go to school, is too close to UCSB. I have no idea.
[/ul]General Comments: Good Luck!!

@Acoustickitty123: My transferable math is still in progress for this Spring (Stats) but I did finish up my English courses. I didn’t know it weighed that heavily in admission decisions. :’( That bums me out as I’m still waiting for SD/LA/Cal, and my major is super impacted. I always thought as long as you finished up by Spring you were OK. :/
