Congrats! Nitole. UCSD is well known for bioengineering and it’s very impacted major! You do have decent GPA, you deserve it!
Quick question. Did they send email first or you just notified from their website? Oh you answered it already n/m! lol

You guys think they’re going down the list in regards to gpa?

Decision: Accepted (off the waitlist) 6/7/12 - emailed at 9AM

Weaknesses: ?
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: (read strengths)
General Comments: Good luck to everyone else! Hang in there!!

I got in too!! =].

Is anyone else having problems with Docufide? I keep clicking the request Transcipt link UCSD provided but it doesnt seem to work.

No email sent, just had to log on to see acceptance. Accepted to Roosevelt (first choice)

Stats:
CC transfer with 3.52 UC GPA.
IGETC Complete
Personal statement was very good (in mom’s opinion)
Tons of volunteer stuff–mostly community service
English Major.

Daughter has SIRed to UCSB and loves their English Department. She is torn b/c she loves UCSD’s campus and it is considered a “better school” but maybe not for English since UCSD does not have an “English Department.”

English Majors: Where would you go UCSB or UCSD?

@clamfest I doubt it, I have a high GPA and I have not been accepted off the wait-list (yet, hopefully)

Oh ok. I hope at least all the people who got rejected everywhere else can get in off the wait list… D:

I wonder if it will tell you if you dont get in off the wl…

^I called a while back and they said you will be notified if you aren’t accepted of the waitlist.

Decision: Accepted (off the waitlist, 5/23/12)

Objective:[ul]
[] UC GPA: 3.97 at my CC, around 2.0 from the 4-year I attended first
[] Major Pre-reqs Completed: All (7/7)
[] Intended Major: Math/Econ Joint Major
[] TAG?: No
[] IGETC?: Yes
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): None
[] Job/Work Experience: Always had a part time job, this year I tutored on the side as well
[] Volunteer/Community service: While living in Israel I did 8 months of full-time volunteering on a sustainable community, and 2 months of full-time volunteering on an organic farm. In the US I volunteered at an arboretum 20 hrs. per week for half a year.
[] Personal Statement: Well, I think they kicked ass. My journey is kind of unique: dropped out of CC and moved to Israel to be with my boyfriend at the time, he abandoned me, I stayed and lived there and made it work for 2 years before coming back to finish school. I think that it’s a pretty compelling story and that I told it well.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes, but I’m still a dependent so I don’t qualify
[] State (if domestic applicant): CA
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: CC, but went to a four year initially
[] Ethnicity: Technically Hispanic/Latino, although I don’t identify that way normally
[] Gender: F
[] Income Bracket: I’m broke, but my parents are engineers so I don’t qualify for financial aid
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): Returning student, drastic GPA improvement (2.0-3.97), interesting story, Woman of Distinction at my CC, nominee for Woman of the Year, lots of scholarships
[] Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Didn’t attend
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My story/personal statements, great CC GPA, lots of volunteer work
[] Weaknesses: Really awful grades from the 4 year I attended right out of high school. Not sure how many of those units were even transferable, though.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Probably the crappy 4-year GPA[/li][/ul]General Comments: I’m pretty sure the reason I was admitted off the waitlist before anyone else was because I talked to the UCSD transfer rep at my school, who was astounded that I had been waitlisted and said she would put in a good word for me. The next day I had been accepted! It’s all about making those connections.

Can’t wait to meet all of you in the fall! I’m bummed that I couldn’t attend Admit Day. We should have our own Waitlist Admit Day on campus where we all meet up and wander around together. Haha.

@nitole congrats !

Still nothing =/

I wonder if it will be like the admissions where the people who are accepted know first and all the rejected people find out last D:
