** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

I hope so because I don’t want to be scrambling towards the end to get all my stuff like transcripts in :I

Do you have a backup school, Clam?

Nope D: I know should’ve applied to more places, but I was so dead set on going to UCSD and I didn’t think it was going to be easier to get in Dx lol well I guess there’s next year? lol

I think it’s good to have a backup school. You have more choices, and there is no penalty if you don’t go. To be honest, UCSD was my backup school, I want to go to UCLA, but I go rejected. :frowning:
I also got accepted into UCI, but I just applied for fun. I don’t want to go there. USC also accepted me, but UCSD has a better science program and cheaper, so the decision was easy for me.
Hopefully, you will get in as well. I think they should release the second batch soon. The first batch should already finish, so I think they’re just sorting through the data to see who didn’t SIR during the first batch and giving it to the second batch. I hate my CC so much that I want to leave as soon as possible. XD

Haha yeah I hope they release them soon and I’m in it!
I guess I was being stubborn because of my film major. Not a lot of UC’s offer a decent film program and I knew if I got into other schools like UCSB, I would not want to go at all so there would be no point in applying. =/ oh well lol it’s my fault so I shoulda been more prepared.
Lol yeah I hate my CC too. Barely anyone transfers and it’s super ghetto ahaha

I don’t hate my CC. It’s just that I have been there for almost 4 years, so I’m getting sick of staying there. I feel like I would stuck there forever if I don’t transfer out of there soon enough. I’m a Bichemistry major, but I suck at Chemistry, so my GPA drops like fly after I start talking Chemistry. lol

Does UCSD have a good film and acting program?

Yikes, chemistry? I could never do that haha. My brain deflates when I take any kind of science class. I’ve actually never taken chem though lol.
They do, I mean it’s not as good as UCLA’s obviously, (which is also ridiculously hard to get into, as I’m sure you’re aware) but it’s good from what I’ve read. I’m already planning on going to film grad school too, so I’m not too stressed about how good or bad it is at SD. I just know it’s better than at other schools like Davis because it’s more on production than theories. At least from what I’ve heard haha.

I’m just happy that I got to go to UC San Diego instead of Irvine. For some reasons, I just don’t like that school. XD
They’re not gonna send another rejection letter for the people on the waitlist, right? If people don’t get in, they just don’t receive any notification?

UCSD was always a reach school for me … I never thought I could get accepted there. I honestly hate to turn down such an amazing opportunity, but I’ve decided that I will not SIR there. Its a very hard decision but I’ve realized that UC Irvine is a perfect match for me and I can’t throw that away.

Good luck to the rest of the waitlisters and congrats to to those who have already SIRed to UCSD!

@ran: Just wondering, what do you mean by perfect match?

Just got this, for those of you that missed the deadline.

Hello -----!

We sent an email last week with some exciting news about your UC San Diego application status. If you have not already done so, please log in to myapplication.ucsd.edu to see these changes.

We apologize for the inconvenience but our payment system was down last night between 9 pm and midnight which may have affected some students trying to submit their Statement of Intent to Register. The good news is that we are extending the deadline!

Please note the deadline to submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) is now extended to Monday, June 11 @ 11:59 p.m.

Thank you for your interest in UC San Diego. I wish you all the best in your educational endeavors.

Sincerely,

Mae W. Brown
Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of Undergraduate Admissions

So that probably means no new batch for those of you still waiting. Sorry guys :(

So like, no rejections either??? Mine still says that I opted into the waitlist blah blah stuff. D: oh crap

I guess it’s still better than nothing, right?

Well they said from June 1-July 1 so I guess we’ll have to wait lol

How many batches are there anyway?

My guess is that they won’t send out rejections until they fill every spot with people from the waitlist.

weren’t there 3 batches the first time they sent the admissions in spring?

UC Irvine’s School of Social Ecology is really unique in the UC system because the Psychology major there specifically focuses on Psychology as social behavior rather than cognitive science. It offers so many resources in Psychopathology that I can’t find in any other school I got accepted to. Perfect for me

What attracted me to UCSD is prestige, location, and cheaper rent (living in Orange County without any parental financial help will be a nightmare -____-) but academically, UCI is better for me in my case. As sad as it sounds, the cheaper rent in SD is what almost made me SIR last night since money is a huge factor. In the end though, I knew I would regret not taking advantage of UCI’s unique program.

Just SIR-ed successfully! :D

@randroid: So you’re not going to UCSD afterall? aww so sad that we couldn’t actually meet then, but congrats on your decision and all the best in UCI! :)

For you guys still in the waitlist, I hope all of you get in! goodluck!
