^Congrats! I got in warren too! :)

@PsychBruin2012: I have a 3.34! I put Muir as my first and Marshall as second. Warren’s good too!

Decision: Accepted

Objective:[ul]
[] UC GPA: 3.9
[] Major Pre-reqs Completed: All completed by Spring
[] Intended Major: Joint Major in Math and Economics
[] TAG?: Yes
[] IGETC?: Completed by Spring
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): None
[] Job/Work Experience: None
[] Volunteer/Community service: Some extremely minor stuff. A majority of what I put down was from high school.
[] Personal Statement: Decent but probably not perfect considering I wrote them a week before the UC apps were due. I would consider them to be somewhat well-written and they do answer the prompts fully but due to my lack of EC’s in college I had trouble avoiding generalities without concrete examples to support me.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] State (if domestic applicant): California
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School: Santa Monica College
[] Ethnicity: Half white American/half Mexican (mother an immigrant from Mexico)
[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket: lower middle class
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.):
[] Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted):
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My high overall GPA and 4.0 GPA in major pre-reqs. Also my completion of IGETC and all pre-reqs by Spring before transfer. I also had TAG.
[] Weaknesses: Essentially no EC’s other than stuff from high school I was able to put in. Essays were decent but not finely crafted.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: The main reasons for acceptance were probably my high gpa, completion of major prereqs, IGETC, and TAG.
[/li][/ul]General Comments:
One of my primary concerns throughout the application process was my lack of EC’s. It’s clear to me now that UCSD cares more about GPA, pre-reqs, and IGETC than a person having X amount of activities/EC’s/jobs etc. I work hard when it comes to my schoolwork but in general I do consider myself to be a slacker. Perhaps I can give hope to other people in a similar situation.

wait, UChopeful…isn’t TAG 3.5??

@AB: TAG is a 3.5 bu there’s also an agreement that those who go to CCC’s in the San Diego area can sign an X agreement or something like that. All you need is a 3.0^ I believe and you’re in…but it’s not guaranteed.

IT CONTINUES TO SAY THIS:

Thank you for your application to UC San Diego. We are currently reviewing applications for transfer admission for the Fall 2012 quarter.

At this time, we request that applicants do not submit any supplemental materials such as letters of recommendation and transcripts, since these will not be reviewed.

Decisions for transfer applicants will be posted beginning in mid-March and continuing through the end of April. Please check back later in the spring for updates and the status of your application.

Important note for all transfer applicants: You received a communication from the UC Central Processor in mid-January which provided details about the Application Update form covering your completed coursework for the Fall term, and your planned/proposed coursework for Winter and/or Spring terms. This is a required form and the priority deadline to submit it is January 31. If you submit the Application Update form after January 31, the information on it may not be reviewed or considered, which can adversely affect your admission decision. Please check this site later in the spring for updates regarding the status of your application.

WHYYYY :(

@AB12345

Don’t worry today was the first day they started releasing transfer decisions. They’re gonna keep going all the way through the end of April so its nothing to stress about

I have a question, I got into Revelle, and I heard that Revelle doesn’t consider IGETC as a complete requirement. Then, is it ok to take the remaining ones in my junior or senior year if I have one? Did I have to go to warren or marshall instead, I’m biochem major, so I thought Revelle is like an appropriate college for me. hmm…

This entire thread is somewhat making me wish I would’ve applied to UCSD now! Hahaha. Congratz to all accepted! Glad to see that one of the UC’s is finally making some progress. :)

[/ul]**General Comments:
“The common denominator of success–the secret of every person who has ever been successful–lies in the fact that they formed the habit of doing things that failures don’t like to do. Successful people are influenced by the desire for pleasing results. They have a purpose strong enough to make them form the habit of doing the things they don’t like to do in order to accomplish the purpose they want to accomplish. Failures are influenced by the desire for pleasing methods and are inclined to be satisfied with such results as can be obtained by doing things they like to do.” - Albert E.N. Grey **
