Aww, thanks. UCSD has been my dream school for awhile, and I’d be crushed if I didn’t get in after tagging and putting the hours in - but then, who wouldn’t be? I’m sure you’ll get in as well - after all, you have a guarantee and a solid GPA/pre-req completion. Plus, you’re obviously intelligent beyond your grades, ie in a way that can’t be easily quantified. I’m sure you’ll be successful wherever you go, and I’m sure you’ll end up having your pick of the UCs.

As for partying, I mean - I don’t do anything too crazy. Just going out on the weekends (like, one night a week) and having a few drinks at a bar downtown with friends or going to a house party and stuff like that.

I think the fact that I took two of the courses online (psych and Spanish) made a huge difference in terms of coming out of that semester with a 4.0 - if all of my courses had been classroom based, I’m sure my grades would have seriously suffered.

Also, I second the notion that taking o-chem at a CC with good instruction is better (in terms of learning and understanding the material/mastery of the subject) than taking it at a UC - there’s so much more personalized attention at a CC. OTOH, medical schools supposedly look down on taking pre-reqs at CCs, so perhaps that wouldn’t be the best option for pre-meds.

@asphyxiac just wondering, where did you hear that medical schools look down on pre-reqs from CCs? I heard the same thing, but im not sure if it is true.

I’m confused about my situation here. I pretty much had an overall good trend, except for last quarter. My major is Electrical Engineering.
I had a 3.75 entering fall(mostly A’s, A-'s, 1 C+), but 1 B and D by the end of fall brought that down to 3.475. I am retaking that D right now.
This D brought my major gpa down to 2.8, which probably invalidates my tag for UCSB and chances for admission for UCSB, UCI, and UC Davis(all of their websites say that 3.0 in major gpa needed to be competitive for EE, but UCSD doesn’t say anything regarding major gpa for EE.)Looks like UCSD is the only college that isn’t ruled out due to major gpa. So what would be my chances? I’ll finish IGETC and most/all of the prereqs by end of spring quarter except for the ECE/math 20e classes which have to be taken at UCSD.

And whats the minimum gpa for winter and spring quarter?

I know right! I guess we just have to wait till mid-April :/. They also wrote “Transfer application decisions will continue to be released throughout April, usually around the middle of the month and again 4/30.”

@UCHopefull; aghhhhh freaking serious? April? This is terrible… Has anyone called UCSD and asked when they might be or how these batches have been put out?

I’m currently a transfer applicant to UCSD too. I’ve checked the myapplication many times and mine still in review. I’m really frustrating now.

My GPA is 3.73
Major: Electrical Engineering

I tick the TAG box in the application but I just realized that it was not TAG. The form I submit in Sep 2011 is ULink and I did not list the University Link in the application (urghhh…) That’s messed up.

A couples of week ago, I received an email fro UCSD that tell me that I listed Calculus 2 twice in the application; they also asked me to scan the transcript to clear it.
Actually, I used to withdraw the Calculus 2 and sign the form with my intl’ counselor to protect my Intl’ student status, then I retook Cal2 and got an A.
However, I got a total of 2 “W” in CC thou’, so I’m really worry about that.

Btw, I was denied by San Diego State and ain’t even know why. SDSU is my safety school and it rejected me. :((

Now UCSD seems to put me on the fire in waiting for the next batch releasing. :((

@mango, I was rejected from Cal Poly but still got into UCSD without TAG ( I forgot to sign up for it!). I too had to clarify for accidentally inputting a class twice. Just take each day at a time…

Your stats look pretty good. I understand your worries, but I think you’re in good shape. Also, that’s strange that you didn’t see Universitylink anywhere in the application. If I remember right, it was on the same page as the TAG. Nonetheless, good luck and I hope to see you next year, I’m an EE major too.

According to their twitter “@UCSDAdmission: Transfer application decisions will continue to be released throughout April, usually around the middle of the month and again 4/30.”

Anyone hear results from UCSD yet?
I just got into the Sixth College as a CC transfer student!
I heard that they do it alphabetically and my last name starts with a ‘B’ so that’s probably why I got to hear it so early.
I am still waiting for other colleges but I am psyched about getting into UCSD! :)

GPA before transfer academic update: 3.62
GPA after transfer academic update 3.40
IGETC: Completed fall 2011
Tag: no (though I did for uci)
Will finish all pre requisites this semester
Major: Aerospace engineering(impacted)
Alternate: Chemistry
EC: club president, volunteered at community events and other places.
Great personal statement.

The reason why my GPA dropped in the fall was because I got really ill towards the end of the semester and got a D in my differential class. I’m retaking the class right now. I told the uc app this in the additional comments. Do you think they’ll take this into consideration?

Applied to UCI, UCSD, UCLA, CAL POLY POMONA/SLO

Accepted: still waiting
Rejected: Cal Poly Slo
