** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

im a ucsd hater. I hate this school. lol

@Dremaniac: lucky :-)

Ferrrari: Why do you hate it? LOL is it that bad?

Why is mine going to a LINK FAMILY link when I log in???

Anyone else?

Accepted Economics/Mathematics…Marshall School. Non-tag. 3.96 GPA.

so ucsd doesn’t take your major into consideration at all?? what if they admit too many people into one major? or too little people into another major?? my only hope was that my major is really not impacted, but now I just feel hopeless :(

It says they admit you to the school based on GPA. They make sure not to over-enroll. Out of those 8,000 accepted humans, only about 2,000 maybe less attend.

yeah but I’m saying what if they admit a thousand bio majors and only like 20 history majors? your major has to be a factor when considering admission right?

Oh I see what you mean. You’re right. I’m sure they know what they’re doing. There are probably more lower gpa applicants than higher. Who knows.

hate it cause they have the same name with USC. I always think sd copied sc.

marshall and marshall

UCSD only accepts non-impacted majors in their “main” batch of accepted applicants. A list of impacted majors can be found here: [Impacted Majors](Capped Majors)

All other majors are admitted as “undeclared” and you declare your major once you are at UCSD and have made sure that you have met all your lower-division prereqs. All majors in BIO at UCSD are impacted so they will only accept your application for impacted majors if you have taken all the articulated classes that are listed on assist.com. They don’t look at whether you have completed your IGETC. All other non-impacted majors need only to follow the IGETC.

I’m not sure if econ is impacted there and why someone would get rejected for econ with a 3.7 gpa. Who knows, maybe they had a bad application?

^@shrtcakez: I applied to a non-impacted major but I have partial-IGETC. Do you think I’m at a disadvantage?

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: GPA.

^^Was that recently, or were you accepted in the first batch a few weeks ago and just posted that now?

@Acoustickitty, my counselor told me about some students that have been admitted with an incomplete IGETC. They c"l it IGETC-1 or however many you are missing. But I don’t know what te cap is on how many you can miss.

If they accept you they basically say they are accepting you with the notion that you will take the course after you transfer. So don’t get your hopes down just yet! :)

Sent from my SPH-D700 using CC

i get the link family page when i log in too. the quickest way i’ve found to access my app from there is to click on the ucsd logo in the upper right hand corner, then click on current students and then my tritonlink.

Thanks shrtcakez. I’m only missing one Igetc class and I believe the cap is no more than two although I’ve known people who got in with 5 missing! Lol. Ah. Another month of waiting. Not really worrying…I would worry if I was applying into a nonimpacted major.

Will UCSD release next batch tomorrow ? :frowning: Almost April…

^ I doubt it, supposedly they said the next batch is mid-April

getting a system error when trying to access my account… hoping theres a batch today lmao just hoping :)

@mrmustache: Same. system error message.
