@Strive101 there has definitely been a decline in transfer UCSD applications this year. Same with all UCs across the board. Since there’s less amount of applicants it actually might be a bit easier to get in this year.

[Fall 2012 application tables](http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2012/12app.html)

Yeah you’re correct! If you ask me, I think that’s pretty lame. They admit you by GPA. I think they should take both into consideration. However, I’m sure they do this to limit anyone applying as 3.0, 3.1, 3.2’s even. Eh, whatevz. And I agree with you! UCSB is so ALIVE. I’ve been hearing too many negative things about UCSD and it’s getting to me…however, it’d be better if I visit the two and make my decision upon that

You are planning on visiting both universities?

I haven’t heard any negative about UCSD. Majority of the time people just keep saying its a really good university in terms of academics.

Yup! Wanna visit both…I’m gonna be there for two years…might as well have fun you know?

^^^I’ve been to UCSD plenty of times, I like it. I’ve never been to UCSB before, well I have if the parking lot of the dorms count. lol. Which do you guys think is more of a party school? I just don’t want to get distracted. I’m already all partied out and am over that stuff, I just want to graduate and move on. lol

Kitty, yeah it would be good to see both universities first.

iDizzle, you can ask students that already attend the university to see what its like.

iDizzle: DEFINITELY UCSB…but it’s also DEFINITELY easy to avoid the party scene
If I transfer there, I’ll probably live at the Santa Ynez Apartments which aren’t close to Isla Vista where most of the parties are. It’s also what you make of it. UCSD can be a party school IF you find the parties. I heard UCSD’s campus was really large compared to UCSB. What did you like about UCSD? was it packed?

@ Acoustickitty: I agree, it is what you make of it. I’ll be living off campus anyhow so I shouldn’t have too much of a problem. UCSD is nice, campus its very open and the La Jolla area is just more “city like” than UCSB is. When my friends used to dorm there I would always go down there for parties(you’re right, if you look for them, lol) and just hang out on the campus. It’s fun and laid back. I was actually there about a month ago in their computer lab. I was getting some help for my computer science class from a friend that is actually a computer science major at UCSD. lol

The SB area is definitely very nice too based on the pictures. But it just looks like there is no where to live, or you must live far if you don’t choose to live on campus. =/

Haha
I agree, both UCSD and UCSB look nice in pictures but I can’t judge a campus by pictures. I have to go there to get a feel of it! I agree…I don’t really get a good vibe from UCSB although I would love to go there rather than UCI or something. I also heard everyone’s really friendly down in SB. I’ll definitely go there next week and I’ll upload pictures.

^^ awesome! To me SB seems like a nice place to visit. Not live. lol

Acoustic- why don’t you go to Spring Insight at SB? I’m gonna go and see how the campus is. I got into SB, but hoping to get into SD. I feel like there are more options down there for housing, jobs, and internship opportunities. Either way, I deff wanna check out each campus I get into.

I wonder how far Solvang is from UCSB. If it were right next to UCSB, I’d go 100% LOL

My friend told me UCSD looks like a concrete jungle lol. I keep hearing UCSB is gorgeous but I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s right next to the ocean ignoring the facilities and whatever.

Solvang is about 40 minutes away from UCSB. Love Solvang and Los Olivos!

@ Icedexpresso wow there’s like a 10,000 increase for freshmen applicants for Berkeley and co. this year. was there some type of baby boom back in 1994? jeez

seriously…freshman applicants…i won’t even touch that. Don’t UCs have a set ratio for freshman:transfers?

@ColorsInTheStars: Thanks for that! 40 minutes aint a big deal…only if you have a car. I probably won’t take a car down with me. Too expensive.

@ Chelz: UCSD IS a concrete jungle, but it is also right next to the beach. Not literally ON the beach though like SB is. I prefer to be closer to civilization as opposed to on the beach(SB) or in the woods(SC). lol

UCI looks a lot like UCSD. Both jungle-y

^^ Yes, I love the jungle-y! Like LA, SD or Irvine. =]
