** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

@ThePavin: I’m not sure if you are referring to my post or not, but I definitely understand where it coming from. I’m losing my sleep over the Berkeley Decisions as well. Did you take a look at the link I just posted? Their admit rate is very solid based on their data, I hope that will help you get rid of some of your worries. I also checked more than 10 colleges near by my college on the assist.org, and only found one that had all four. I hope that can give you an idea on how many people might be missing preq. when they transfer.

@moon was referring to Ryan actually. Thank you for the Pre req tid bit. However I still feel as if applicant size can be related to gpa averages that simply. I really doubt the cause and effect is that direct. Pool of applicants while might be less Im sure is just as competitive as last year if not more so

Pavin
Is there any school in your area that offers the other Phil pre reqs? Im driving to a CC 35 minutes away to get a third pre req in.

^^ lol. Phil degree by itself is. A buddy of mine has a bacherlors in philo from Irvine but he plans to go to law school or something. You too right pavin? So not entirely useless. lol

@Bearterritory, I go to the only 2 CCs in the valley here sadly… One is part of a large “sister system” type deal and even then those are the only ones here…

@Ryan: So if its the least valuable major why exactly did you decide to be a philo major at UCLA?

@iDizzle; yep exactly the route :)

Comes into ucsd thread. Talks about ucla.

you gonna make a meme about it? ^

Decision: ACCEPTED
accepted into Muir College

Objective:

UC GPA:3.7
Major Pre-reqs Completed
Intended Major:Managerial Science
TAG?: Yes
IGETC?:Completed

If I get into UCLA and/or Berkeley, I hope the grants they offer me are as big as the one UCSD offered me. Boss.

^^ Ryan: I either plan to go into Public Relations or Applied Anthro in International business. Depending on which major I go with. I worked in corporate wholesale for 4 years before coming back to school so that’s when I realized what I wanted to do.

I hope those articles keep popping up and deterring people from majoring in it. From my experience only, I’ve noticed that along with psychology and sociology, philosophy is one of the majors most infested with those “don’t ask me what I’m gonna do with it” students.

You gotta have some confidence in yourself.

@zyfezyfe when did u receive admission acceptance?

ok so im dying and i decided to do a “chance me” after being addicted to this thread for the past few weeks:

GPA: 3.87
Major: Visual Arts
Pre-reqs: all complete
units: 61 (by end of spring)
IGETC: yes

“other’s”:
-worked on the show The X Factor (Post Production) 36 hrs a week
-was a ward of the court/foster child
-went to u of a freshman year, only was there for a semester had to leave because of financial and health problems but didnt do too great there. talked about taking on self responsibility in my personal statement, not blaming parents, going after my goals at a CC

^my 2cents,

You have a pretty solid chance of getting in with a 3.87, especially since Vis. Arts isn’t impacted. My only concern would be to make sure not to fail a class this spring since 1 less class (assuming its not a 1 unit class) would put you below 60 units and they will 100% rescind if you don’t meet the requirement. Besides that, you’d actually be pretty competitive for almost any school you applied to IMO. good luck

8 more days everyone :)

Worried.sigh hoping for the best ><

this is stupid

ucd/ucla same day? next day ucsd?

^ hahahah :[

@Salmos: Haha, I agree. You can always go into Therapy with Sociology…or Psych. I wouldn’t mind doing Marriage Family Therapy once I get my bachelors in Soc

Is the 21st a for sure date or is it speculated to be the 21st?
