** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

@HotChocolate: I believe IGETC is important ONLY if you’re applying to an impacted major. You can transfer without it…it does no harm. But I’m sure UCLA and UCB don’t like it but there are still some people who get accepted without it. And those who got accepted with GPA’s below 3.5, usually applied to non-impacted majors. I still saw a couple 3.4’s getting into engineering majors. I can tell you this: Get a high GPA as much as possible. I don’t think TAG applies to people applying with impacted majors. Just shoot for the highest GPA above 3.5+ and I’d say you’re good to go.

Do you guys think maybe that UCSD will release decisions before the 30th? Are you guys keeping up with the twitter accounts?

^ I think there will be at least two more batches, one the end of this coming week and one on the 30th, maybe more. They snuck one out when UCLA released, I wouldn’t be surprised if they snuck one out when Berkeley releases. :p

Nothing on twitter as it’s the weekend, maybe they’ll give some ambiguous tweet next week.

IGETC isn’t mandatory for admission purposes, but it really does help you out as far as graduating on time. If you don’t complete IGETC for UCSD, you have to finish all the GE requirements expected of freshman at whichever college you’re admitted to. The GE requirements can be as much as 60+ units, some of which would be fulfilled by the courses you transfer with, but still can be a lot of additional coursework to do. I think everyone that wants to graduate on time should apply with IGETC completed.

Last year UCSD released a batch which included acceptances and rejections the week immediately following their second batch. So I would expect a final batch soon (or one final acceptance batch and then rejections), probably toward the end of this week and nothing the following week when the 30th lands.

I’m thinking the next batch will be low gpa because me and acoustic are low gpa and either one of us has been accepted yet.

they are probably just wanting to know who is going to SIR who has the HIGH GPA’s

^Agree UCKittty! I also heard when you SIR to one school, other UC’s know.

@DilapidatedMind: WAIT WAH?! I’m missing my Biological Science section…just ONE class. That means i’m gonna have to take a ton of units to fulfill that single section? omg. I’ll go crazy. I hope it’s not like that for UCSB :O

So it really is random? Or are they planning a master scheme for low GPA’s  nervous as fuhhh

will there be a waitlist for the last batch??

still pending D:

UCSD is using the waitlist and yeah, it’s usually for the last batch. some people last year were waitlisted for Comp Sci, Sociology, all sorts of majors.

Have you guys actually checked the decision site? I didn’t get an email from UCSD but I checked the site on a whim last Friday, surprised to see that they actually did post my acceptance. Go check! You might be pleasantly surprised :)

Decision: Accepted

UC GPA: 3.565
Major Pre-reqs Completed: 1 year general chemistry, 1 year calculus, 1 year biology, 1 year physics (in progress), and 1 year organic chemistry (in progress). Done all breadth courses.
Intended Major: Ecology, Behavior and Evolution
Also accepted by: UCSB, UCLA

Currently studying Biological Sciences at UCR. Transferring from UC to UC is very possible, I’m happy to say! Although I think it’s important to mention that my major is not as impacted as others. Congrats/good luck to everyone!

when next friday comes around next week imma be like ITS FRIDAY FRIDAY GOTTA GET DOWN ON FRIIIDAY. :)

how cool would it be to live in iHouse.

can you guys give me a quick run down on your guy’s financial aid offers, so i can compare and sorta make my decision early, just in case i get into UCSD.

I’m looking at housing around UCSD and prices are astronomical.

is there a chance that housing will fill up and I won’t be able to get a spot? I don’t care if I have to share a room I just want a room… if I get accepted.

Can one apply to say the village and also other housing ucsd offers?

^Has your financial aids been posted? anyone? The Village is really expensive…

It is but I think living on campus and having a roommate will be worth it for me! I really want to be on campus and I want to make friends so yea haha
