** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

Question: I got waitlisted for SD today, but I decided I’m going to wait until admissions for UCI before I start that 200-word essay. If I get accepted to UCI I’ll SIR there instead. If I don’t, I’ll start on that essay. If I submit that essay at a later time (but before the due date) will I be put at a lower spot on the waitlist than if I had worked on it and submitted it today?

@BusyBeeh everyone said they contacted the admissions people and they said it doesn’t affect you as long as you submit by the date of May 15

idk why but i find myself checking my admission status when i was just waitlisted this morning. lol. I just opted in on the waitlist and i just keep checking

Also waitlisted… I’m going to Davis. But I didn’t want SD anyway, I just wanted to be accepted. Oh well, SD stinks in the summer time. Congratulations to all who got in though!

so can anyone give me a quick rundown of the colleges? without just giving me a link to the descriptions. i got into marshall. it was my 2nd choice. i really don’t even know on what basis i picked it.

I’m also wait listed but I forgot which major I put down for ucsd rofl.

Question: Must the payment of 100 USD be out of pocket? I have fee waivers but it doesn’t show any option for it on the SIR.

Boo hoo. Waitlisted. I guess they really did wait until now for UCLA.

I have questions:

1) I sir’d to UC Davis, didn’t pay anything, my application now says “thanks for committing to UCD” Did I get the fee waiver? lol I am honestly confused. it didn’t tell me anything!

2)The housing application (for Davis) deadline & deposit of $500 deadline is June 1st. Obvi I have to do these things before UCSD lets me know if i’m in off the waitlist or if i’m rejected. What if I actually get into UCSD? Do I get the 500 back? Or is there a fee waiver for the housing deposit too, bc i’m really really poooor and i’m sure I would qualify if there is onee.

@uchappytrain

Having the same dilemmas here :/. I SIR’d to UCD cuz it was my second choice and UCSD waitlisted me as well. Idk what happened to your 100 fee thing…maybe you qualify for the fee waiver? It just redirected me to a page where I had to fill out credit card information.

I’m not sure about the housing deposit either!! One us of should call UCD and find out tomorrow, or email admissions, they respond quick!!

@uchappytrain isn’t your financial aid bad for davis? why didn’t you pick sc? i thought they gave u loads

Accepted! :D

Major: Computer Science
College: Sixth (can’t remember if I marked it as first choice or not)
GPA: ~3.7
Major Pre-Reqs: All completed or in progress
TAG: No
IGETC: No

Waitlisted :frowning:
Major: management science
College: Sixth
GPA: 3.4
Major Pre-Reqs: missing 3
TAG: No
IGETC: Yes

another month and a half of waiting. :frowning: Or maybe just a month of we’re lucky…

@shizz yeah I guess so. I had to call them twice today and was put on hold for ten minutes each time. you call them!! lol

@philosoup I spoke with a financial aid adviser today, and since they mistakenly labeled me as a commuter, not an on campus like I had indicated on my FAFSA, I should be getting more financial aid than they gave me originally. They said it would be fixed in 1-2 business days. I also asked about the 4k out of pocket and they explained that it’s actually not out of pocket, but from scholarships or loans or it will be waived. I didn’t really understand what she was trying to explain but if it’s not out of pocket, it’s fine with me :)

@AB12345 I think they would have the decency to let us know by June. I honestly don’t think they expect us to wait until July. Or maybe they do… DUN DUN DUN!!!

@happytrain that’s great you resolved the issue. good luck at UCD or UCSD

Decision: Accepted

Objective:[ul]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My GPA rose steadily since fall of freshman year (by semesters, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 w/ summer and winter session)
[] Weaknesses: Trying to transfer from a 4-year outside of UC system. No IGETC or TAG, or direct course articulation
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I was surprised I got in considering I was ready for rejections all around. [/li][/ul] I didn’t decide that I wanted to try to transfer until this past summer. Went on a whim and changed all my registered courses for what was required, and have taken as much as I can since. I would advise against trying to transfer this way because it’s probably the dumbest way to go about it :\ But if you find yourself in a similar situation, it’s possible! Rejected from LA, accepted for SD and Irvine, still waiting on Cal. Good luck to everyone in these next few days that are left!!

*edit: oh right, SD let out all of their decisions already. sorry, I waited to open mine at the same time. I guess this post is more for next year then ._. best of luck to those of you wait-listed!

Hey guys. I recently checked and one of the English Composition classes I put that I was going to take for Spring was already taken at UCR. They did not list my finished English class but instead they listed the one I have planned.

Is this grounds for appeal? I am wailisted.
