Accepted to UCSD. Missing 4 major pre reqs.

Is there any reprocussions for appealing ucsd’s decision after you have opted in on the wait list?

^^^ Good question. You should call and ask if you can do both. I assume it might complicate things though?

Ucsd is my dream school! Haha I’m hoping with an appeal I can sneak in some more information about me lol.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My GPA probably[/li][/ul]General Comments: Good Luck!! This was a total shock to me because I thought I messed up on my units and I got rejected from UCLA on Friday. Still waiting on UCI, but this was my number one choice so I’m gonna turn in my SIR asap!

if you’re on the waitlist and you SIR’d to a different UC already, you can still SIR to UCSD and cancel the SIR to the other UC.

“If you submitted a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to one campus and are later offered admission from the UC San Diego waitlist, you can still accept the offer. You will need to submit an SIR to UC San Diego and cancel the SIR you submitted to the other campus. The deposit to the first campus may not be refunded.”

^from the waitlist FAQ on myapplication.ucsd.edu

are you still able to apply for financial aid even though it’s past the march 2nd deadline?

they BETTER release waitlist decisions on June 2nd. UGH.

June 2nd 12:10am. I gave them 10 minutes to figure out spots lol. Everything is on computers so it shouldn’t even take that long!!

^ maybe for the first round… then we wait 3 days or however ever long those people are given to accept or decline the offer, then the next batch… etc till july hits or the spots are full…

It would probably be a lot faster if the jerks that plan to go elsewhere wouldn’t opt-in to the waitlist “just to see” if they would get in… :(

does anyone know anything about housing deposits?

UCD expects a housing deposit for $500 by June 1st, whereas UCSD waitlist decisions come out June 1st - July 2nd.

Would I be able to get that deposit from UCD refunded if UCSD actually lets me in?

Idk about Ucd but Ucsd has a policy that they’ll refund a certain portion of the amount after a certain amount of time. So maybe you can find out if Ucd has a similar policy

I was searching through the thread to see if anyone called UCSD and questioned the reason they were placed on the waitlist, I don’t think I found a post but I may have overlooked so I apologize in advance if this information isn’t new.

I called admissions today asking why I was placed on the waitlist. I had my ID number ready for them just in case they needed to pull my application out but they didn’t even ask for it so I’m assuming this applies to everyone waitlisted. Everyone that was placed on the waitlist didn’t reach the minimum GPA (3.5+). I don’t know exactly what the cut off was between being rejected and for the waitlisted but basically all UCSD is concerned about is the GPA.

When everyone opts in the waitlist after May 15, everyone on the official waitlist is ranked by their GPA and they will take you based on your GPA ranking and how many people decline their admission offer to UCSD. I asked them if they looked deeply into the content of the 200+ prompt and the guy said honestly, no; however there may be circumstances where they will actually look but it seems as if it doesn’t matter how well thought out your response is, it’s all GPA centered.

@superkathleen: I believe there was someone who had like a 3.9 that was also waitlisted.

Oh that’s nice to know. The cut off was 3.53 and I have a 3.52 so to know they’re going based of gpa is kinda a relief

^Thanks for the information Superkathleen: I agree with iDizzle. Someone was on the waitlist with a 3.9. I’m getting annoyed of this waiting game. Imagine having to wait until JULY. oh boy

I have also been wait listed. I was just wondering if they do have space, will they use the GPA that we have right now(ones on our submitted transcripts) or the GPA we will have once spring semester is over?
