Are there no '12s out there?

My kids were never crazy about playing the best/worst game after vacations until we got it rolling. Now they say it’s how they remember so much about our travels. Come on you guys, give it a try and help out some '13s!

Can alums do this? ;)

if you’re an alum, go for it! I’m really curious to see what anyone has to say…

but seriously, where are the 12’s? knickknackpatty, I know you’re out there…

If you have a distinct recollection of your Freshman year, I think your insight would be valuable.

OFF-CAMPUS EVENT OR ACTIVITY -

EXPERIENCE ADJUSTING TO COLLEGE/LIVING ON YOUR OWN -
best/easiest: food! yay! good food!
worst/hardest: sleeping habits!

“got a warning from Safety and Security for napping on a couch in Wilson Hall”

Oh. Dear. God.

This sounds like some public school $#!+ :P

They told me they’d “write me up” if they caught me napping again. I’m terrified.

Why, as a matter of curiosity, do you consider the River the worst? Is it just location, or something else?

FRESHMAN YEAR CLASS/PROFESSOR -
best: I took a lot of prereq’s and freshman reqs this year and I wouldn’t label any of my classes or profs “mindblowing” or “inspirational”. I know a lot of my peers who had “best profs I have ever had” experiences, but I haven’t. Don’t get me wrong, all the classes def. taught me a lot and were challenging.

with that I was a fan of Hist 2- 20th century American history and Chem 6
worst: Chem 5 (due to the professor and general nature of the course-not dartmouths fault)

my only real dissapointment with the classes was the unbalanced nature of the writing 5’s/ seminars. some were certainly better then others and teaching/grading was ambiguous because they differed so much depending on professor/prof experience. '13 should be careful in which ones they choose (some seminars had medians hovering low B’s while some had medians as A)

SOCIAL EVENT -
best:Every big weekend and the parties that happened on the row during that time. I freaking loved Winter carnival in particular because of all the random stuff they do with the snow. winter sports are great.
worst:36 mafia spring concert, it was awkward
SPORTING EVENT -
best:dog sled racing. no our hockey team was outrageous this year.
worst: our football season in general…
LIVING ENVIRONMENT (as experienced by you or observed)
best:Any freshman based dorm is sick especially the RIVER.
worst: Fahey, Russel Sage, only because I didn’t get to live there.

living environment in general is really nice here, esp as a frosh.
INTERACTION WITH ADMINISTRATION -
best: lunch with president wright
worst:nah
OFF-CAMPUS EVENT OR ACTIVITY -
best: HANOVER, NH
worst:
EXPERIENCE ADJUSTING TO COLLEGE/LIVING ON YOUR OWN -
best/easiest:people here are so friendly its easy to make friends.
worst/hardest: adjusting to classes filled with the smartest kids from the nation worrying about curves and medians.

Location. I can’t imagine living there during the winter… I only lived there from 6/10 to 6/15. Plus the bathroom was always flooded. Rooms were nice, though (although the previous occupant of my room left sheets and a blanket on his bed… sketchy much?) I lived in East Wheelock during the year. Private bathrooms + EW Snack Bar + cool programs ftw. Incidentally, with the exception of courses in Kemeny, all of my classes were on the east side of the Green. EW was much more convenient than The River would have been.

Edit: switched obscene (apparently) word choice in parentheses

I’ll second knickknackpatty on the human dogsled race being the best sporting event.

do we switch dorms every term?

No, although if you’re on in the spring, summer and fall, you’ll probably switch rooms at least twice: once from Spring to Summer Interim (if you’re on for interim), another from that to Summer, and another from that to Fall.
