2013-2014 Applicants and their parents.....

I can’t see how it would hurt you, but you can wait until Friday if you want. June 28th is when schools can first start to download applications from AMCAS.

@mrpenguin I haven’t been verified yet (probably next week if I’m lucky!). It’s kind of weird how it’s been open since the 20th when most other schools will give links/send out emails starting on July 1st…

Also, congrats on submitting yesterday!

If that’s the case, then I would wait until you’re verified.

i would advise against actually submitting a secondary without having received an invite to do so. I have no basis for this but imagine it may cause issues in their record keeping.

Feel free to start working on it so that you can submit as soon as you’re invited to though.

Verified today : )

Pinkstuff: When did you submit?

D submitted on 6/24. Had the college send her official transcript a few days before that. Had to wait for spring quarter grades.

Applied to 29! schools.

Hopefully, your D can recycle secondary essays. I’m sure her inbox will be plenty busy by the time she gets verified in a few weeks.

@TatinG, I submitted at night the first day it was opened

So roughly 15 days after submitting on the first day to be verified. I’m sure the delay will lengthen for those who submitted later.

Yes, she will be pre-writing or at least outlining the secondaries in this down time. 29 is a lot but what the heck. It’s better than having to go through the madness all over again next year.

How long is my MD/PhD training? I am finishing my 3rd year in the program but will graduate with the kids currently applying!

@TatinG…It took 10 days from the day it was sent from our D’s school for her transcript to be marked “received” by AMCAS. AMCAS states it could take “up to six weeks” from the time both app and transcripts have been cleared before the app is actually shown verified. D’s in that holding pattern now. Boy, I wish she would have known to submit her transcripts in May! Our D will also be applying to numerous schools.

Wow they REALLY have something weird going on this year at AMCAS. Transmission of applications is delayed to med schools to an “expected” date of July 5th (as opposed to tomorrow like scheduled). What is up with these delays?

BDM’s post a few pages back about AMCAS hating odd years seems to have foreshadowed all of these delays. The good news is that verification will not be stopped while AMCAS sorts all of this out.

It’d be nice if by some miracle D’s was verified before July 5th so hers would go out with the first batch; however, I’m not holding my breath. At least her TMDSAS was verified early.

jc40, has your D already gotten some TX secondaries? Even if she’s waiting to get verified, has she started some pre-writes? I hear that helps.

Today, AMCAS release the application numbers for this cycle. Apparently, they received 15000 applications as of today and verified 3000 of them. As they are very near finishing applications received on June 10, they must have received roughly 3000+ on the first day and 12000- since then. That’s an average of 700+ apps per day. At the current pace (~200 apps per day), they are going to take 3-4 days to verify each days load of applications, from the time they are done with the load from June 10.

Limabeans…She submitted all TMDSAS secondaries some time ago and will spend the remainder of her summer pre-writing for AMCAS schools. (She’s taking a summer class now but will finish 7/3.)

"received 15000 applications as of today "

When do they get the other 25k apps?

First secondary received- this is getting real : )

texas, it’s only the end of june, a lot more people will be submitting between now and the end of july.
