2013-2014 Applicants and their parents.....

When they first setup the new software (and it wasn’t working) it appears to have sent out a lot of bogus persistent data which is probably still on your browser. Try clearing all your cache and see if it works. It’s what I had to do.

Yeah Plumz… that was up…having problems logging in…great to be back.

DS has had three acceptances in the past couple days. Beyond thrilled for him! Hope all others are doing well.

^^^^CONGRATS on the 3 acceptances!!!

Kat

Congrats to learninginprog’s DS!

Congratulation to learninginprog’s S!

It’s been a long slog but the end is almost in sight……

So happy for your son, learningprog!!! :)

Thank you all on his behalf!. WOWM, indeed you are correct, the end is almost in sight…

Wow…learninginprog!

Congrats! Wonderful to have choices!

(happily resting during this brief time before residency craze…you will be there next year.)

Thanks Mom2CK. Rest up, .will be surely watching you guys ahead with the residency craze as before long our kids will be there.

learninginprog,

Big congrats to your S.

After the “upgrade” of CC, I had some difficulty in getting to the end of any long thread like this thread. So I got your S’s good news late. It appears today it allows me to get to the end or the last page of a thread by just one click on a thread (I am using iPhone.) Hopefully, it will continue to be in this way.

We haven’t heard a peep from all of you in awhile. Just dropping in to see if anyone had any updates? Is this normally a quiet time in the process?

February is usually pretty quiet. Most schools have finished sending out IIs and interviews usually end in late Feb/early March. (Although there are a few schools that interview into early April.) Students are waiting to hear decisions from their non-rolling schools–which come out in March. FA packages don’t get sent out until April. Once May gets here, things get busy again as students make their final commitments and the waitlists start rockin’.

D is still pretty busy. Three more interviews to go. Two I’m convinced she got by sending in letters of interest/updates. The financial aid applications which are in addition to FAFSA are real bears. Then there’s an additional essay she has to write for a possible merit scholarship.

She doesn’t know if she’ll attend any second looks or not. They are all on the same weekend. And if she doesn’t have the financial aid package, it’s all immaterial really.

Last of my 4 Manhattan schools came in today. >:P For those keeping score at home, 2 As, 2 WLs. I only have 2 that I’m still waiting on, having withdrawn from all others. It’s been a long process and it’s almost over. =D>

Good luck to your DD Tatin on her remaining interviews.

Light at the end of the tunnel Pluma, 'grats to you!

Advantage of having a sib who’s a med student—

D2 will be shadowing/tagging along with her older sis while D1 is on her FM clinical rotation in March-April. (D1’s preceptor has said it’s OK with him. FM rotation is out of town and D1 will be the only student her preceptor has.)

That’s pretty cool WOWM!. Will D2 be tagging along for the entire duration? If so, she is lucky to have that time off from work… Good for her!

Not sure if D2 will stay the entire 6 weeks. (In part because they will be living together OOT and too much togetherness may make them implode.)

As for her job–it suffered a premature termination due to funding issues.

(This is really bad time to be in the biomedical research biz. At my facility, we’ve gone thru 3 rounds of staff terminations due to funding issues in the last 2 years and it looks like another is looming in the near future. Everyone is under the budget hatchet–including our transitional clinical and basic research scientists.)
