2013/2014 Fall Transfer Thread

I have a question. PLEASE HELP!!! If you know! So I attend DBU and my gpa here is a 3.538 and I’m trying to transfer into ut. I took dual credit hours in high school and got all b’s. does that factor into my gpa when they are looking at it? It doesn’t at DBU I would have a 3.29 with those. Please let me know if anyone knows.

Benpstephens i think it is counted in your gpa but im not entirely sure. Call the admissions office and ask what they have your gpa is to make sure

Okay I will thanks for your help!

I’m getting a little nervous about my transcripts. I sent them in January and my status still says incomplete. I emailed them but no response yet.

College: Lone Star

My essays were, in my opinion, horrible so I hope that doesn’t hurt me too bad lol.

I’m trying my best to be patient but it is SO hard! I want to know if I will get in already.

My application is complete just waiting on a rec letter

So, I submitted my app on ApplyTexas on Tuesday along with my essays and paid the application fee, and I still haven’t gotten anything in my email about my Mystatus. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I call? I’m kind of at a loss as to what to do…

So I’m really nervous about transferring too. As of right now I have 21 credits but by the end of my spring semester I should have 38. I’m really scared that 1) they won’t consider my application because my transcript is not complete because i still have to send in my spring 2013 transcript by June 1 2) I’m scared that I won’t get housing to leave on campus

Here are my Stats:

  5. Transferable Credit Hours: By the end of Spring 2013= 38 credits
7)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays:I got my essay reviewed by the writing center in school and was told that they were both excellent! =)
In high school I was in Honors band and went to State twice, I was also a Tutor, On the student council, Competed in HOSA and went to State, ran the radio station, Did Youth and Government and was in the MST Magnet Program and Graduated with a Medical Academic Endorsement.

idk how high my chances are of getting in but I have been freaking out since December about this  i’m really glad I found this forum and i’m not the only one that’s stressing out :)

Babble: i would call, idk if it varies but I got my email almost immediately
ifespiffy: if you are completing your min credits in the current semester you are applying they wont automatically deny you though, if they do I was told you can apply for an appeal if your GPA improved.

Hope it helps, good luck guys!

Joverton: are you worried they wont accept your credits since your out of state?

izziedodat: Thank you! It’s so funny I posted that and an hour later I got an email about my mystatus. Weird coincidence but I’m not going to complain.

Yeah!! Thats great! glad I could help

I am currently at Texas Tech and last semester I pulled of a 3.75 GPA with 14 hours. I also had dual credit from high school (12 hours) with a GPA 3.2 for a combined GPA of 3.5. I have 6 hours worth of AP credit, so my MyStatus page says they have enough credits to make a decision. What do you think my chances of getting into UT are? I applied for first choice Pre Public Relations in Communication and 2nd choice Liberal Arts undeclared. I have 3 recommendation letters, and solid essays ( my belief that is). Anyone have any ideas on my chances??? Also what kind of grades do I need to make this semester to make sure that if I do get accepted they do not take it back from bad grades?

Thanks!

1) Current College: ACC
2) Current GPA: 3.77
3) First Choice Major/College: McCombs

Recommendation/Essays: Essays are good. Recommendation letters, I got one from my Micro/Macroeconomics teacher and one from my Business Calculus 2 teacher.

Any transfers from out of state?

GPA: 3.88
Major: Advertising (in communication school)
Units completed: 49. 17 in progress
ECS: Board Member of two honor societies, some volunteering, tutoring job

decent recs, average essays.

What do you guys think of my chances?

Im transferring from Eastern Michigan University with currently 16 credits and finishing 31 this semester

izziedodat: That is actualy my main concern. Private out-of-state schools are very tricky. Especially when dealing with core requirements, I feel that UT will give me the run around and make me retake some of my core classes.

Same, but at least you have some leverage of having more than 30 hours. I’m barely making it. I went onto their website to look up some courses though to see if any of them are similar to the ones I’m taking

Hello all, just wondering if you could chance me for transfer to UT Austin for Fall 2013.

Current College: UT Dallas

I am transferring in as a Sophomore

Current GPA: 3.86/ hoping by end of spring semester it will be 3.94.

Credits: 15 (33 by end of this semester) Unsure of how many will transfer.

First Choice College/Major: CONS/Biochemistry

Second Choice College/Major: Undergraduate Studies

Extracurriculars:

  • Member of Alpha Epsilon Theta
  • Work 20ish hours per week for pay

High School: 5.13/5 GPA, unsure of unweighted since school doesn’t keep track but I’m assuming 3.8+.

Essays: Pretty good. Had them checked by multiple people including my academic advisor who is an English major and my university’s writing center.

Recommendations: Excellent recommendation from my rhetoric professor. One of few As in her class.

I heard that if you have a 3.5+ especially for big schools like Natl. Sciences you’re pretty much a shoo-in? Is this somewhat accurate?
