2013/2014 Fall Transfer Thread

^ We are in very similar boats!

I am getting nervous/angry/annoyed.

And don’t forget careless about any other stuff that is not UT. At least in my case

I know! I have checked out of everything! It doesn’t help that random people getting posting their success, and all the kids I have been posting with for a week or so have all heard nothing. Band of Brothers.

Soooo much fun here!!! I’m Chinese, but I’m definitely not a hacker!haha~Congrats to you guys who got accepted! My status is still “in review” so far…really drives me crazy…

Hello guys!
First of all Congratz to all of you who heard back… I haven’t posted here in a while, but i’ve been reading your posts like every second…lol
Applied Chemical Engineering(1st choice and PetE(2nd)…I am extremely nervous, i keep having these dreams…
Fingers crossed for all of us still waiting.
All the Best

@deadxpoetics: That’s unusual. I think the only places that I’ve applied that didn’t require HS transcripts were UT and Texas State. Everywhere else did, no matter how many college credits one has. Did you apply elsewhere?

Hello! I’ve been lurking for a while and thought I’d join in while we wait here at the end. I’ve already been accepted to Southwestern, and, like you guys, I’m getting very anxious to hear back from UT! Here are my stats/details, for those who are interested:

GPA: 3.68 at ACC with 62 transferable credits
3 very strong essays
Excellent resume
Phi Theta Kappa member
No letters of recommendation

I am also a non-traditional student and single mother. My essays primarily concerned my experiences with my children and the circumstances leading up to my current situation as a college student. My volunteer work/EC also relates to being a mother.

I applied to COLA: Psychology as my first choice, and School of Social Work as my second choice.

Good luck to everyone still waiting, and congrats to everyone who’s in! :)

@Jpgarcia6 Yeah I kind of messed up! My second choice major is Advertising which is also a major with a high GPA as it’s average. I feel like it’s too late to switch it though. I’m scared it will make my application look weaker if I do.

Since I put McCombs as my first choice and liberal arts as my second choice, do you think they may not admit me at all because they can see that I will want to be in the business school eventually? They could see my spring GPA and see that I will likely want to internally transfer to McCombs in a year, so is it possible that if my GPA is as low as a 3.6 by the end of this spring that they may decide not to admit me at all because they think I may never be able to get into McCombs? A 3.6 is above average for COLA, but I suppose it’s possible for them to think I will never be able to get grades good enough for McCombs and then decide not to admit me. I know it’s another far fetched question from my warring head, but no matter how dumb it may be I would appreciate an answer. Thanks, guys.

@acceptmepls honestly, you’re thinking way too much. According to that logic, they wouldn’t admit any 2nd choice majors.

@dpayan7 - Probably right… My bad.

@acceptmepls yeah i’ve been overthinking a lot too. try not to sweat it. I wish my GPA was higher! i hope the fact that I attended two different cc’s simultaneously helps me a little

Isnt it true that your gpa starts over anyways once youre admitted to ut?
So your past grades wouldnt matter at all if youre trying to internally transfer?

nobody was admitted today???

Still nothing!!!

@yeahboiii that would be %100 percent true except for your indicator courses for majors like McCombs business or engineering because you would not have taken them at UT unless you planned to.

Received word on Wednesday 04/10/13 that I was admitted into my first choice major; petroleum engineering.

Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting.

@sbain47 what were your stats? If you don’t mind me asking

I’m a freshman and if I already had 30 credits on my transcript before spring semester and if I get rejected, can I appeal the decision and have them review my application again after I send my spring transcript? Because I’m almost positive Ill get a 4.0 this spring semester which will push my overall gpa to like a 3.88

Lookbehindyou,

74 Credit Hours - (62 of which were directly transferable to UT’s undergraduate petroleum catalog) - including Cal I, II, III, MATH 2320, PHYS 2425 & 2426, CHEM 1411 & 1412, GEOL 1407, ENGL 1301 & 1302, ENGR 2301, ECON 2301, SPAN 1411 & 1412 (to satisfy ‘language deficiency’)

GPA: 4.0

Transferred from Houston Community College

Two letters of recommendation - One academic and one from a petroleum engineer

Three strong essays

Phi Theta Kappa member (but with virtually no club activity)

Lot of volunteer and community service

Packet was submitted right before the deadline

Lastly, i’m somewhat of a non-traditional student.

I know of one other student who also was admitted to petroleum this week. He too was a 4.0 but had a very different background.

Hope you do hear something positive soon. Best wishes.
