I applied as a transfer non degree-seeking undergraduate at the Cockrell School. Completed my application during the deadline. I have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from a foreign university but I am a US permanent resident. Is it more difficult to get in as a non degree-seeking transfer?

Quick question: I know that this is the UT forum, but I’ve read several people have applied/been accepted to Texas State. When you’ve been accepted, what does it say next to “Decision:” on online status check? Will it say “Accepted” here immediately, or will it just say “Evaluation Complete” and then they mail you their decision via snail mail?

*Please note: Questions above are about Texas State process, not UT!

I was accepted to Texas State already. In the status check, it says something like “admit student” if you’re accepted. I can’t tell you EXACTLY what it says because I don’t have my status check PIN anymore to check it for you since I was admitted like 3 months ago. They also send you an email within a couple days, as well as something in the mail (that took like a week or two after I saw my decision online).

They’re pretty quick though. It only took them two weeks to decide to admit me. :)

My status has changed to kind of like “Attention:In Review”. First choice: Mccombs, second choice COLA economics. International applicant from Lone Star College (ya sounds familiar right ). I’ve been waiting for admission decision for 2 and a half months

My stats may be only useful for international students since we’re selected from a different applicant pool. FYI,
Major Accounting
I’ve completed 43 credits w/ all business indicator courses, 60 after this semester
GPA 4.0
40 hrs tax preparer volunteer, a few unrelated field volunteer hours
VP of Phi Theta Kappa, my chapter
1 Letter of Rec
TOEFL 104
2 essay: one explaining why I changed my major from computer science to accounting; the 2nd about the threat that a cement plant is killing the river near my hometown. It’s personal and important to me.
Btw, I applied in last minute

Anyone ever heard of a 3.5 GPA applicant to McCombs and COLA get accepted into either of those schools? I know each year things seem to get a bit more competitive, so I don’t know if a 3.5 is good enough for COLA anymore.

McCombs might be a stretch because the average gpa last year was 3.84.
for COLA the average gpa for last fall was 3.58, so you have a chance with COLA for sure.

Alright, thanks. Found out today that I miscalculated my GPA and that it will be a 3.57 weighted if I get a 3.75 this semester, or a 3.5 weighted if I get a 3.5 this semester. The rest of my stats are the same, so I guess I just have to run on a lot of hope that there’s still a chance.

Would it be worthwhile for me to consider making my first choice COLA and UGS my second choice? I’m not sure if that would give me a more secure spot, but it’s worth thinking about.
