2013/2014 Fall Transfer Thread

have any fine arts majors been accepted?

Yeah I got denied )’:

@mathguy

If your GPA increases this semester you can appeal your application.

@mathguy definitely appeal depending on your GPA. What are your stats?

Schoolgirl, what is the minimum GPA that would give me a solid Chance for accepting my appeal?

Are you still waiting?

First of all, congratulations to all that have been accepted.

I’ve got a quick question though. My first choice major is Radio Television Film (College of Communications), and my second choice major is Economics (COLA). As far as I know, the College of Communications has not yet begun accepting transfer students. I have to wait to hear back from the College of Communications before I hear if I am accepted into COLA, right? I am worried about the fact that I haven’t heard anything yet.

Thanks.

Well it depends on the college.
Which one are you trying to get in?

Copies from a previous post.

Stats:

Current sophomore with 44 hrs - 3.3 GPA (57 hrs 3.4 - 3.5 GPA after spring) . A D in comp 1 from dual enrollment in H.S. really brings down my GPA  I’m retaking it now and I have a 96!

First choice: CNS - Physics

Second choice: COLA - Envirmental science

About 150+ hours of community service at a church and a WWII air plane museum.

Named ‘State Superior’ (1st place) in a SkillsUSA state competition for architectural drafting senior year in highschool using AutoCAD.

Dean’s List twice.

I’ve gotten “A”'s in every mathematics course from college algebra to cal I (differential). I have a 97-98% in cal II (integral). A in chem I.

Texas resident.

I’ve been sponsored by local skateboard shops, and paintball shops; won 2nd place in PB comp.

I’ve had two jobs.

I’ve been in local basketball adult leagues since 16 or 17yrs old for 5yrs, I’m21

Skills: Autodesk, C++, DAWs, instruments, painting etc.

2 strong essays, the optional essay was pretty good. My sister proof-read them she graduated from COLA - UT.

3 letters of rec from mathematics and chemistry professors.

I think I’ll have much better chances after this semester.

I got rejected from Comp Sci (1st choice) and Economics (my 2nd choice). I’ve got a ~3.2 at ACC as of now. My GPA this past year has been good (i.e., good GPA trend) with A’s in my math-ee classes. However dual enrollment classes I took during HS bit me on the ass. Weak resume with good essays. For all of those people still waiting or those that may see this in the future, overall GPA is king; it doesn’t matter how long it ago it was that you took English I or Speech Intro and made C’s. I will appeal to admissions and update this.

I feel you man damn dual enrollment. What option are you choosing for the appeal?

@ Schoolgirl7866
Is that the average GPA of people admitted through transfer, or the GPA of UT students at each college?

@ mathguy1000
What do you mean by “option”? Don’t we just offer an explanation why we want to appeal and an updated transcript?

Also, does anyone know if it’s easier to transfer in for the spring semester?

ACCEPTED!
Computer Science - College of Natural Science
Out-of-state
GPA: 3.96

@dhurts
Its accepted transfer students

@ Schoolgirl7866
Thanks, I appreciate it.

For those who didn’t get in, when are you submitting appeals since you’re waiting for this semesters transcript?

I have to submit the appeal by May 1 (answering a couple and a giving a brief statement) and, unless I’m mistaken, accompanying documents within 21 days of submission (I’m assuming that’s when one sends in their updated transcript).

I’m a theatre transfer and I haven’t heard anything! So I’m assuming the College of Fine Arts hasn’t released decisions!

Dhurts I think you’re right. Let’s not lose hope. We all still have an opportunity.

Yeah school doesn’t end till mid may so I was wondering how that worked. Thanks
