@acceptmeut I am!

Do i absolutely have to send in my transcripts for dual credit classes i took in high school? i dont need the credit given by them nor do I want the gpa because they’re B’s that would downgrade my gpa!

if UT is not asking for that transcript on my status then they don’t know about it so my answer would be no but BEWARE that is academic dishonesty. If the University find out later idk what they’re response would be.

What do you think?

College: Texas CC
GPA: 4.0
Credits: 58 (70 after this semester)
First Choice: Asian Cultures and Languages
Second Choice: International Relations
Recommendations: None
Statement of Purpose: Very good, but long
Personal Essay: Decently well written (also long), but a little controversial and ill-conceived
Work experience: Lots of solid work experience, 3 years in management
Extracurricular activities: 2 orgs, 1 club (I co-founded the club)
Awards: 1st place in an annual essay competition, 2nd place the following year (research essay category)

Sooooo… I am hoping that my personal essay isn’t going to bury me. Also, I’m a little worried about not having a letter of rec. I didn’t realize that EVERYONE would be sending one in! Please tell me I’m not screwed.

I was wondering if anyone knows what the average GPA is for Cockrell Engineering and COLA for accepted transfer students.

And also if I took a class and it does not transfer in at UT (I checked on the automatic transfer equivalent site) does that grade get factored into GPA? It makes a big difference for me between a 3.7 with or a 3.9 without.

the course may be transferrable for elective credit but not toward credit toward your major which can result in it being calculated into your transfer gpa OR it would not be transferrable for any hours which in that case they would throw it out completely from calculating ur gpa resulting in a higher transferrable gpa if the course was a B. For example freshman seminar credit would be thrown out.

lelouch I am in the same boat. had my transcript sent to Austin expedited shipping and it was in their office last tuesday 2/26. As of now it is still not processed, what should I do? I hate seeing the incomplete on my application

Whenever they look at your GPA do they just take what’s on your transcript? Or do they actually check if you got a A+ or A- and calculate your GPA that way?

No just the letter grade on your transcript, unless your school uses the A+/A- system as well?

Nope thankfully. It wouldn’t have made a difference in two of my classes because I made a 100 in them anyway but the rest of my classes where I got an A it would have brought my GPA down. My school doesn’t go by the +/- system though so it’s good.

I have the same situation but a bit worse. They received my transcript on february 14. And nothing on mystatus yet.

@uttransfer28

Whats are your stats if you don’t mind?

Hi everyone! I’m trying to transfer next semester and I’m just curious what my chances are. I was at OU last semester and got a 3.63. I transferred to ACC this semester so I could take the classes I need to transfer to UT (it’s also much cheaper than paying tuition for one semester at OU). So far I have a 4.0 at ACC so I’m hoping to keep that until the end of the semester. By the end of the semester, I will have 34 hours total. I’m in state and have good essays and extracurriculars. My first choice is natural sciences and second is liberal arts. What do you think my chances are? I really don’t have a back up plan. Thanks for your help!

Mine’s kind of unique… What do you think?

1) Current College: University of Maryland, College Park
2) Current GPA: 2.9 (which is higher than my department’s average)
3) Probable total GPA after Spring Semester (in May): 3.0
4) First Choice Major/College: Computer Science - Natural Sciences
5) Second Choice Major/College: Asian Cultures and Languages - Liberal Arts
6) Courses completed: 18 AP Credits + 88 college credits (Finished all general education requirements for my current institution and UT Austin) = 106 credits
7)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays:

Extracurricular - Honors Program; Started a non-profit organization; Representative of my college; former president of Residence Hall Association; former sitting member of my university’s SGA

Awards/recognition - Maryland Governor’s Citation; Harvard University Faculty and Staff Award; United States Agency for International Development Award; and other scholarships.

Recommendation - two letters from my Honors Program faculty and staff

Essays - Did A, E, and C. My essay C explains why my GPA is low; my essay A explains why I am applying to the two majors at UT Austin (Urdu/Hindu and South Asian Studies are not offered at my university; UT Austin offers a better research environment for CS)

8) Anything else useful:

Have met with Bill Clinton, senior members of the United Nations, and a consul general from India to earn sponsorship for and work together on my non-profit organization.

Currently a CS major.

Is it harder for OOS to transfer into UT Austin?

Hey FreeThinker90!
Yeah, your stats are very unique. I have been told countless of times that if your GPA is below 3.0, then they wont even look at you. Your GPA is like the first thing they look at. But other than that, your stats look amazing. I would encourage you to get your GPA as high as you can, so you have a fighting chance.

But don’t lose hope, anything can happen. I have seen people with a 4.0 get denied so you never know what will happen.

I am also applying as an OOS but I am originally a texas resident. Again, I was told that it is harder for OOS, but you never know! Don’t lose hope!

4.0 transfers getting denied? WOW.

Did any1 transfer from uh to ut or is trying?

4.0 transfers only get denied if one of 2 things happens.

1) you apply to a very competitive major for example the business school with course work that is really irrelevant to the major. Like having a 4.0 with credits in easier courses like history or sociology means almost nothing to them.

2) you apply to a major that has specific course requirements that you do not have.

I plan on double majoring in Gov/Eco and I might do business later.
If my only college classes were Calc II, some science class, psychology (summer), sociology, a polisci class, and an econ class, would that be ok?
I already have AP credits for some classes

@Lavinboy14 I agree! I didn’t mean to scare anyone but from previous threads that I have read, there was a EE major that got denied. He “said” he had everything and everyone thought it was a shoe in, but its a rare occasion, but it can happen. Just wanted to ease some pressure.
