Does your mail come around 4 PM EST? I think mail arrives at different times in different places. My friend gets her mail every day at noon and fawefoijweofiwejfoiwjfoiwefjaweoifja if my mail came at noon, I’d stay home to wait for it.

@PxAlaska Actually I live quite near Andover since it’s like a 45 min drive. I don’t know when I’ll get it though because the FedEx truck sometimes comes twice ( one time in the morning, the other in the afternoon or noon, and this one time at night) But I think it usually comes somewhere between midday and the afternoon. I don’t think my parents would let me stay home though. So what grade are you applying for? I’m applying for 9th.

Ooops sorry, I didn’t communicate that properly. I meant I would be so desperate and excited for my letter, that I wish I could stay home and wait for it. I’m applying for 12th so I’m an oldie but somehow still new? It’ll be strange. I know they accept very little people for 12th grade so I’m worried. In my neighborhood (3hours from Andover), the truck in the morning comes with packages and the one in the afternoon has letters :D

@PxAlaska But remember there are also MUCH LESS people applying for 12th grade! out of the 3,000+ applicants I think it’s mostly 8th graders applying for 9th grade…but I could be wrong.

I believe you are correct since the majority of new students are 9th graders, it would be proportional for there to be more 9th grade applicants (applicants in 8th grade going for 9th).

I feel like prime rib in a slow cooker. In the early grades like 9th, there’s a lot of plain water. In 10th grade, a lot of water has boiled off. By 11th grade the prime rib is almost done and almost all the water is drained. Then by 12th grade there is nothing left but the prime rib. I’m a huge fan of cooking so that analogy may not have made sense. Oh well. Let me try in regular words. I think as the grades go by, the applicant pool becomes tighter.

Please don’t relate PostSecret to those incidents. The project wasn’t meant for that (at least, that wasn’t what the founders meant for it).

Ahh, this stupid Andover PostSecret thing again. It’s really not that big of a deal, every school has their scandal(s) and APS is a just an honest blog where students, obviously not a majority, anonymously send their feelings and experiences to Andover to post. This doesn’t represent the whole body, but to be honest, none of the things on that blog should surprise anyone. They can and do happen at a lot of boarding, private and public schools.

I’m starting to worry, I might not get in anywhere. It just hit me you know? The nerves D:

Not trying to be a downer, ■■■■■ or anything, but this is my second time going through the prep school process. Thanks for the support guys!!

I think these incidents are really sad but I agree with bsroxmysox that not every school is perfect. But I hope the people at andover are more mature than the people at my current school.
@ Boardingschool21 I been contemplating that too but when you do get that rejection letter think what you’re saving yourself from (the articles from jmiltonne)

I got that feeling too so I applied to some other schools in my area. Not selective, but still better than public. It helped me feel like I had a back up plan. In the mean time I focus on keeping up my grades and EC’s. There’s no use in worrying now!

yeah and there’s always next year!

I guess your all right !

Anyone here applied as a 10th grade repeat?

I’m applying as a first-time 10th grader this year, and then as a repeat next year if I don’t get accepted :)

There sure are a lot of people applying for 10th! Is there anyone applying for 9th? Otherwise this is looking pretty good for me!

@jmiltonne why do keep post that? Anyways my opinon is that these incidents happen at every school. Though these problems are disturbing, I don’t expect Andover to be perfect. I hope the Kids in Andover are much more responsible but I mean these things will happen anywhere as long as you have teenagers in a school. I’m not saying that you guys would do this but certain people may be interested in trying. And these incidents only represent a portion of the school. The kids that I met on my tour were all really nice and I could imagine this happening to them but it happens I guess.

And people still argue with me over changing the Andover title. Smh.

@AmbiD77 , what schools are you applying to?

Mine are Taft, Westtown, Newhampton, Pomfret, Suffield, Concord, and Cushing

@Boardingschool21 I’m applying to Andover, Exeter, Groton, SPS, Deerfield, and Hotchkiss

Are thy going to announce when the Andover letters are going out since march 10 is a Sunday and FedEx doesn’t deliver on Sundays?

They are being delivered on the 9th
