I had my Cornell interview yesterday; it went pretty well.

Anonymous886 - You haven’t heard from Penn State yet?

justPhysics - Where are you from? Which school are you leaning towards most?

I narrowed my list down to Columbia, Penn State, and UIUC. Visiting Penn State Feb 18th  and Columbia that same week.

Anonymous886: I may apply for Cooper, not sure how I would do though on the hometest which is why I am hesitant to apply.

Also, I may add Illinois Institute of Tech and Boston Arch College as safeties instead of applying to U of Arkansas. Other than that, I have applied everywhere I am interested in. Right now though I’m hoping I get the foundation unit track at Auburn!

Just got accepted to Penn State and NC State for architecture, waiting on:

Auburn
Carnegie Mellon
Rice and
V Tech.

Anyone else accepted to NC State?

Applying to:

V Tech
UVA

Cornell
Cooper Union
Cal Poly
Princeton
UT Austin
U Miami

Accepted:
Stanford! (yeah I know it’s not an arch school but I was still happy)

for the Cornell interview, sell yourself on your love of art and design. My guy was very very passionate about Cornell and design, to try to learn a lot about the program and push your artistic achievement

Anyone want to post up their portfolio? I’d love to see what work other aspiring architects have been doing!!

Southernatheart: Is NC State your top choice? I’ve not heard of their program before, is it B.Arch?

Applying to:
Cornell
Columbia
Yale
Princeton
Rice
UT Austin

What are the stats you need to get into the penn state architecture program?
i am a junior at a public high school and my GPA is currently a 3.7 and i have not yet taken the sats. (i will be taking them in april.) Penn state is my top school, i love everything about it and i love architecture and i really want to pursue that as a career. can someone else tell me the average stats of someone who got accepted into the architecture program? i would also like to know when the right time it will be for me to apply to penn state in 2013. i REALLLLY want to go there lol and i am going to their architecture camp this summer so will that help them with their decision whether or not i get accepted? someone please help penn state is my dream schoool. btw i forgot to add that i take 3 AP classes and the rest of my classes (except banking) are honors

@mayyyah: I do not know much about Penn State, however I found this awhile back.

http://admissions.psu.edu/info/counselors/bubble_chart06.pdf

While it’s old, to get into the Uni Park campus where the Arch majors attend you should try for at least a 2000+ on the SAT if you maintain a 3.7 W GPA to have the best shot of getting in. I’m pretty sure PSU is primarily stats based, but going to their summer camp could only help you.

Also, are you in-state?

@mayyah:

What is up. If you’re from PA than a 3.7 from a public school will be good enough to get in. If I were you I’d contact the Arch department about any summer programs for prospective students. As a JR right now it would be prime for you to attend an event like that, also if you call the Arch department they can answer most of you PSU unique questions. Just remember the Arch Department has nothing to do with your admissions to UP so I’d contact UP and then see what stats they give you. If for some reason you don’t feel your application is ‘strong’ enough then apply as an Undecided major, you can still major in Arch through PSU’s Department of Undergraduate Studies. So keep on it you have a lot of great options to get into the Arch program.

In the past, the deadline for applications to psu’s architecture major has been Nov. 30. This program is also harder to get in to than most of the other majors. While you may be a likely admit to psu based on that bubble chart, you’ll need higher stats to get in to the arch major. Also, it is unlikely that you will be able to switch from DUS (undecided) to the arch major. My daughter graduated from the program a couple years ago and in her freshman year they allowed a few sophomore and junior students to transfer into the major but they had to start as first year students. There was a sequence of 10 studio courses, so it took at least 10 semesters to complete that. I don’t think they allowed students to transfer into the major after that year. I definitely wouldn’t count on it. If you are not admitted as an arch major and that’s truly what you want to pursue, you should probably attend another school. Good luck.

Very good point cagb1016. Although you can always do what I did, contact the Arch department directly and talk to an adviser within the department. However, Mayyah, if PSU is what you want and you have a 3.7 then just practice your admissions tests. I went DUS because I’m stuck between Arch and Arch Engineering, I also talked to both departments and will be visiting in Feb. So, just call up or email the department and you’ll get way better information than anything you will find on here.

Got into Auburn, still have to apply for the Arch foundation unit. Anyone else applying/accepted here?

Accepted:
UT-Austin SoA
Princeton
Iowa State

Applied:
Columbia
Yale

Finished my Rice app., emailed portfolio, sent in scores/transcripts, but then I realized that with Rice being in my hometown area,it is just too close. Rice was my dream school with an amazing program, but I am not willing to stay so close to home. Don’t think I’ll regret it, but now it looks like I’m going to have to go to grad school for sure with a B.A. in Architecture as opposed to a B.Arch.

Accepted to UVa and UT Austin! Congrats to everyone else on their acceptances!

Accepted to Penn State last week! I don’t really want to go there though–plus it’s out of state so I have a feeling it won’t be worth the tuition.

Congrats to everyone with their acceptances!
