My DD received the letter yesterday

Congratulations to all that are invited to interview! It’s a great opportunity. Both of our kids were honored with the award and both have been so happy with UMD. Our DD was invited to work in one of the most productive research labs following her first semester and our son is a finalist for a Ph.D. program in Mathematics. They both love the campus and have been able to find great friends and activities there.

Rocker123 are you in state or out of state?

Max

What is a “finalist in a Ph.D.program in Mathematics”

Still haven’t received a letter, but I’m in PA. Good luck to everyone waiting on it! I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

If I haven’t gotten a letter yet, should I assume I didn’t get it?

Peter, He recieved an email stating that the commitee had selected him as a finalist and asked him to write a couple of additional essays about his personal life and interest.

I live in MD (about an hour away from CP) and I’m starting to get worried I haven’t heard back yet…

We are in state, about 45 minutes from CP.

Thanks Max

Its been 40 years since I got my Ph.D. (Medicinal Chemistry) and I suspect I’m a little behind on the application process these days. Good luck to him. I don’t know about Mathematics but I hope he realizes that he has a 4-6 year challenge in front of him.

got my letter dated 2/7 in the mail yesterday. i am in state, about 45 min. away from CP. i am LITERALLY beside myself. can anyone offer any advice for the actual interview? like how to interact with the interviewers (super professional, or is appearing comfortable important?), what kinds of questions to expect, etc.?

also, what does the partial award amount to for an in-state student vs. and OOS student?

congrats everyone!! best of luck to all! to those still awaiting a letter…i have my fingers crossed for you!

I’m a semi finalist and I received my letter last Friday.

@cubanita13;

Our son was invited a few years ago but I don’t think the process has changed much. The whole event was pretty informal if I remember correctly. A few presentations over lunch. Interview lasted only 10-15min or so. According to our S, the questions are designed to get to know you better rather than trying to quiz you. Good luck.

joshi13 are you in state or out of state?

Anyone else heard anything today? I’m a little disappointed not having gotten anything yet…I’m hoping the letters are being sent out in waves. I’m calling tomorrow though, so we’ll see.

I am also disappointed I haven’t heard anything today. Anyone from PA hear anything?

Does anyone know when they send out who gets the presidential scholarship?

So if my son has not gotten a letter by today he probably won’t?

Got an invitation yesterday in the mail! I’m from Florida.

congrats everyone who got it so far! … please keep posting notifications and your state, whoever got it… we’re waiting and hopeful in the Northeast…
