Officially rejected from MIT, assume rejection from Harvard.

I really like all the programs!! I had narrowed it down to 7 before applying- did not expect so many interviews. Plus, what if I cancel one, and then don’t get accepted anywhere…(I know I’m lucky to have this problem but still…)

Go to every interview you can. You might love a school on paper and get there and hate it. This happened to me last weekend, and I know a lot of people the same. Picking grad school is very personal and a long commitment so you want to make an informed choice. So try to go on every interview!

Heh yeah, I’m in Indiana, and it was ~5deg F during the day yesterday, and windy. Icky… I’ve heard Minnesota is much worse, so I imagine Michigan’s on the same terrible lines as the rest of the midwest, haha.

I think the admissions rate for Yale BBS might vary by program. I’m applying to computational biology, and my understanding is that they accept most of the people that they interview.

@marymir for the Integrated program at Columbia med school they only have 2 interview weekends… the one last weekend and the one feb 1-3. I spoke to the secretary on the phone recently and she told me that they invited ~60 people total and will accept ~30. I don’t know anything about the columbia life sciences program

I found out yesterday I’m at the top of the wait list for Emory’s Cancer Biology program. All I need is just one person to turn down the interview! Ahh. So stressful. This is my top choice and I want it so bad. If anyone got an interview invite and know they plan to go somewhere else, please turn down the interview!

I know that sounds so desperate. Ha. I only applied 4 places though. I’ve been wait listed at Emory and Northwestern and haven’t heard back from the other two yet. I’m so afraid I’m going to not get in anywhere, when I was so close to my dream school.

Has anyone heard anything from the University of Chicago Biomedical Cluster? They are the only one I haven’t heard anything from, and I know a lot of other people on interviews are saying the same. I tried calling, but no on answered or returned my messages.

@air2147 i loved it! the people i interviewed with were very nice and were excited to talk to me about the program. after Friday morning its all about relaxing and touring the city with the grad students! i was so sad when i had to go home!!

@Fishscience101, I haven’t heard anything back from then either. I did email Geoffrey Greene, the chair of their Cancer research program about a week and a half ago and they said they were still making decisions on who to invite.

I wrote off UChicago a while ago, figured having a 12/1 deadline they’d be done with invites by now. Guess not?

@greenerfields

I’m still waiting to hear from Tufts, UIC, and NYU. I’m about to write off NYU since it was so competitive last year (>1000 for 45 slots). UIC should be soon (new electronic system is delaying things?) and Tufts has been not helpful in their communication, so we’ll see.
