Got a call from Weill Cornell IMP Chair and informed that I be accepted.

@MicroB2012 That was quick! Congratulations!

Hi everybody, I’ve already got three offers from UMDNJ Biomedical Sciences (going to be Rutgers Biomedical sciences effective July 1), Drexel Neuroscience and CUNY Biology. CUNY is kinda my back up school so I am trying to decide between Drexel and UMDNJ. Any idea about the two programs?

Also, did anyone apply to SUNY Downstate Neural and Behavioral Sciences? Anyone heard back?

I know Stony Brook Neuro hasn’t sent out invites yet. I talked to their program director last weekend.

Emory IMP sent out acceptances today FYI. It seems like a really good program but I’d like to stay in the northeast, so don’t lose hope if you are waitlisted.

Already got the acceptance? I felt a bit panic. My interview is scheduled to be conducted this week, but I’m still waiting for the specific time… Could you share some details of your interview with Emory IMP? Thanks.

Don’t worry. First of all, I attended the first interview weekend. The interview process itself was nice. Relaxing conversations with some good PI’s- no one was trying to grill me. There were roughly 20 people there. I think they usually have a class of around 10 or so. Either way, I will not be going to Emory, so my spot will definitely be available to you. Good luck.

Sigh…I am down to my very last hope…Stony Brook Genetics
I am going to have an interview next Monday and Tuesday
If Stony Brook doesn’t work out, then this year is game over…

Can anyone give me some advice for interview? I really want to get into this school so much

@zebura:

Is this going to be your first and only interview?

The only advice that I can give you is to be knowledgeable in your own research. If there are any areas of your project(s) that you are unsure of, you can ask your current PI or re-read some papers in your field. Prepare a description of your research and try to imagine all the possible questions that could come up from the limited information you will give to your interviewers. Keep in mind that the interviewers will most likely not be experts in your field, so you might be able to get away with some vague answers when you don’t know. But if you really have no clue, you can simply say so. Some professors will try to ask you questions until you are no longer capable of answering… to test how much you know.

Be nice and friendly. And be aware that everybody will be judging you, including the grad students who will arrange activities with you. Some admissions committees ask for the grad students’ opinions on certain applicants, so don’t tell anybody you’re desperate, tell them rather that you really like this program and it is your first choice…

Good luck!

If you are like me and have been waiting to hear back from Harvard BBS round 2 interview results, you should hear soon if not already. Got a phone call this morning from a faculty member that I interviewed with, and the letters should be out in the next week. Yay!

Good luck to everybody!

any umich news?

Yeah I was only offered MS without funding from Maria a few days ago…

Accepted to Watson School of Biological Sciences at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory today via email (and a letter is in the mail)! :)

@gradschoolatlast Did Harvard BBS send out emails yet? Didn’t get a phone call, so I’m a bit worried. :(

@thebioscientist

No emails yet. My guess is that if the faculty are on top of the phone call that they are responsible for, then they probably do so soon after the admissions committee meeting. If they are not, (like most busy PI’s) then it may never happen and you may just got the email. I wouldn’t worry yet, but I will keep you informed on when the letter does come through. fingers crossed for you

Tetrad acceptance by phone woooooooooooo!

Just received an acceptance e-mail from Kate at Harvard BBS after the round 2 interviews.

I just received a UCSF Tetrad acceptance via phone! Woo! :)

Congrats on all of the acceptances everyone!

Yale BBS MCGD acceptance today via email and application system. :)

Wow, bassish! You’ve had such impressive results from the application process, congrats on your success!!
