2013 Candidates for the Presidential Scholars Program

What state (or region) are you in if you don’t mind me asking?

D just received a letter from our Governor today congratulating her for being a 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Since the scholars have not been announced yet, we assume this is just a congratulation for her being a semifinalist. Anyone knows?

That’s a good question! My guess is that the congratulations is for being a semifinalist. Our S is a semifinalist also so we are certainly anxiously awaiting word! Good luck to your D!

My daughter received a letter two days ago from our state governor as well. I figured that it was for making the semifinalist list although the wording sounds like she was awarded finalist status. Would the governor leak something like that before the official announcements are made? I doubt it. Has anyone else on here, (besides the one person who already posted), received a similar letter from your respective state’s governor?

Anyone know an exact date when the list of finalists goes out?

Two people that received letters: what states are you from?

We were told that semifinalists who are selected as scholars will be called this week; semifinalists who aren’t selected as scholars will get letters. I suppose the governors’ offices could have gotten notification of the names of the scholars from their states before the scholars themselves have been called. What did the letters say?

The Scholar announcement is planned for Monday, May 6. Scholars will not receive a phone call but they will be notified by mail.

meekchun, where did you get this information? Is it somewhere on the PSP website, or did you contact them directly?

I asked F-book and they replied.

My son received a letter today congratulating him on being selected a Presidential Scholar.

Congratulations jlddelaware! My son is a Semifinalist. Mail not delivered yet, so we’ll see this afternoon. Big state (Florida), so low odds.

No letter in MA. I’m actually going to Europe during the Scholars weekend so if I didn’t get selected it would make planning a lot easier.

Has anyone else gotten a letter, telling them either that they are a scholar or that they were not chosen as a scholar? If so, in which state are you?

No letter today, which means D is not a scholar. Congratulation to all the scholars. Have fun in DC.

Why do you think that means she’s not a scholar? Letters are supposed to go out to scholars and non-scholars alike, notifying them of their status. So no news doesn’t necessarily mean bad news, does it? Maybe it’s still just no news?

Just checking in again as I got no responses to my question: Has anyone else gotten a letter, telling them either that they are a scholar or that they were not chosen as a scholar? If so, in which state are you? (If you don’t want to give your state for fear it might identify you, that’s fine; my main question is whether others have received notification letters, pro or con.)

No letter yet on the West Coast

No letter notifications yet in Louisville, Kentucky… but we just had Oaks and Derby, and (in addition to having school off) there was no mail delivered on Friday or Saturday!

@anseladamsfan,

It appeared that you posted the link to semifinalists at 04:24 AM on 04-15-2013.
So probably, the list of scholars will be announced tomorrow morning on their website as well.

Did you really post your message at 4:24 am on April 15? If so, maybe the list of finalists will be announced very early tomorrow (4:24 am is really early).
