**2013 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

Judging from last year’s thread, I think rejections come out with the last batch. I might be wrong though…

I can handle UCSD rejecting me, but I want UCSB to accept me with my TAG first. It won’t sting one bit if that’s the case. Haha.

@larinaga yeah, thanks. I would rather let him ask the counselor, hehe.
UCSB is coming tomorrow, since you tagged, you are very likely to be admitted at the first day.

@emprex waiting is like the black hole, haha.

I am waiting for UCLA to give me an answer…I am a transferee and I may need to wait until April, I am so anxious…anyone else who is waiting for UCLA as a transferee has received an answer yet?
I try not to think about it but it is killing me…LOL!

@tcccom, Not tomorrow, brah. On Tuesday, the 19th. I have my accounting class from 2:20-4:55 - Tuesdays and Thursdays; and UCSB decisions are due to release at 3:00 pm. I’m sure as hell not going to class on Tuesday. Haha. I don’t want to embarrass myself with either screaming loudly in victory or crying like a baby due to a rejection in front of everyone. Lol.

@tcccom i tagged UCD instead. hopefully decisions will come out later by the end of today cuz it is so tiring when we need to keep refreshing our portals and waiting all the way till Apirl. Good luck!!!

I have a question though. Due to family financial issues and drama, I may not be able to attend this coming fall. Is it possible to reapply next year without being penalized for it?

So we have come to the consensus that most everyone who was admitted today had TAG or a really high GPA?

^i’d agree with that. I haven’t seen anyone lower than a 3.8 get in today (there are exceptions of course). I TAG’d and I haven’t heard anything today.

i kinda think that the first batch is for ppl who tagged or have high GPA

Talk to you guys in April! lol

Anyone think the order is just random? I doubt UCSD first ranks everyone by GPA, then makes decisions on the top GPAs, and releases them on the first batch. I have a 4.0 and am still pending. Also think that there are many many people that get admitted and don’t post here on collegeconfidential. There are people that probably have never heard of this forum. I’m sure there are people out there with lower GPAs that got in today and we just haven’t heard. I really think the likelihood of being on the first batch is the same for everyone. To those who did get in today, congrats! For those who didn’t, like me, keep checking everyday. We will all get a decision, no one is going to be pending forever. Hang in there :)

So this first batch is only released today? Or will it continue tomorrow? I really don’t want to wait until April to hear from any school. =/

Decision: Accepted
UC GPA: 3.82

Out of curiosity, does anybody know the process of changing your major once your accepted? I got all the pre-reqs completed for my major and alt. major, but i want to switch my alt.major into my major. Anybody know if its even possible?

I have good news for people with bad GPA; I am one of you and I got ACCEPTED!!! Just got the acceptance letter in the mail today.

UC GPA: 3.151
Major Pre-reqs: Completed
Intended Major: Sociology
TAG?: No
IGETC: Completed

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): Helped create video news for high school that played every day. Coached church youth group basketball and track teams. Worked as a lifeguard. Helped put up water stations around the desert for illegal immigrants to try and prevent deaths.
Additional Details:
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant): CA
Ethnicity: Latino
Gender: M
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: 00000. My family is flat broke. $20,000 family of four.
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Oh hell yes.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):

I have terrible GPA. The only reason I think I got in was because I had really strong essays. I am a former illegal immigrant with a poor and sick family that I had to take care of and I wrote about that. I also had some strong extracurricular activities and the fact that I’m the first person of my family to graduate high school, I am poor, and I am Latino probably helped a little.

oh wow people are still finding out? How late does the first batch go?
