Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):
I think I was accepted because I had a very strong personal statement and a reasonably high GPA.

Im kinda freaking out. I got rejected by UCSB but I have a 3.9 GPA and my major is Political Science. I TAG’ed to UCSD but I don’t know if my TAG got accepted. Is anyone else in the same boat?

How strong was your personal statement and your extracurriculars?

^ Do you know why you got rejected by UCSB?

@darksunsets27 I can’t think of a reason why! It was my safety school. I had a butt load of extracurriculars (tutor, internships, leadership positions, clubs, varsity sports etc.), part time job at a tutoring center, finished all my pre-reqs. Was a concurrent student for one year. (Started college in high school,) and a GPA of 3.9. I was really confused.

@ oarghandiwal Do you have any of the required english or math classes in progress this semester? I guess UCSB is pretty strict about that

@oarghandiwal that really sucks!!! Now i am pretty scared, I am a poli sci major too and i have a 3.5 (Berkeley/UCSD GPA) 3.6 (UCLA GPA)!! Good news is that if you tagged you should be safe for UCSD but still that sucks!! You should call SB to see if they could clarify

I’ve had a UCSD email forever but no response thus far (mechanical engineering). From the looks of this thread it doesn’t look like it’s a sure thing one way or another.

Has anyone had (or currently have) a UCSD email address who was not accepted?

@Katdawg1 Ohhh I do. I have all my math and english courses IP right now, but I have everything else. Then that makes sense.
@aztecstudent Don’t freak out. I didn’t have my math or english completed before fall semester! You should be good

@ oarghandiwal Yeah thats probably why then. I’ve read though about people who got rejected from UCSB for that reason and then they appealed and got in, so you should try that/ And I don’t think that UCSD cares about that because I have my English in progress right now and I was accepted in the first batch. So you should be okay for UCSD!

@katdawg1 You literally just made my day  Gave me hope!!! Thank you :)

@ oarghandiwal Haha you’re welcome! Trust me I am such a spaz about all of this, so I totally understand what you are going through.

@ oarghandiwal

I agree with Katdawg1, if you pass those courses (which you will), you will then have new and compelling information that was not available at the time of review–basically, you have sufficient grounds for appeal.

Everything is so slow…

@oarghandiwal That is crazy that UCSB didn’t accept you but a friend of mine who transferred last year, also with a 3.9 GPA, got rejected from UCSB too but then got accepted to UCLA! So it will all work out for the best I’m sure!

Decision: Accepted

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): very good essay, extracurricular, and my GPA

@xorrazor : thank you. By the way, I got into Revelle .
Additional Details: got 2 scholarships , one for engineering , and other one (paid over 4 years). Good luck to you too.

To calm anybody who might be worried about this test to see if you got in by checking to see if you have a campus email when you click and log into that link, I got into UCSD as a transfer last weekend with a 3.5 in Economics and Mathematics and I still don’t have a campus email from that link yet! Don’t stress!

I think I’m denied. I can’t see mine.

@HopingToXfer Don’t say that! I don’t think these “hints” are a way of showing that someone is rejected. It may be a sign that someone is accepted… But I really don’t think it’s a sign that you’re rejected if you don’t have it! Many people who were already admitted did not get an email address, so don’t worry! :)
