Alright so 5 days till the selections are made for those who applied early! Good luck to all and hopefully we'll see some semifinalists post on this thread!

Hi again! I’m hoping to make semifinalist as well. Or not, because then I won’t have to fill out the honors app. I probably won’t attend without the PSP, and it’s a loooong shot.

Anyone know how many semifinalists are chosen?

Of more than 8,900 applicants in this year’s Early Action round, 5,060 were offered admission at Georgia Tech. Of those, about 500 will be selected as semifinalists for the President’s Scholarship Program, with about fifty students ultimately receiving this award.

From GTech PSP Update Email

Thanks! And good luck everyone!!

Good luck to you all

If you don’t get in to the next round (Semis) I still congratulate you on your acceptance!

We find out tomorrow guys. :D

And gals! :)

Anyone who makes it please let us know. And your credentials if you don’t mind.

Good luck y’all

Just checking, it’s at 5pm est right ?

Ohman that’s 6am here on a Saturday and I absolutely refuse to wake up that early :p

^International Life

It’d be cool to be named a Semi. I’m instate (HOPE scholarship) so the money really isn’t a big deal, but I’d love to do the competition, and I want something to still have to work for. If I don’t get to start the PSP competition, I’m kind of…done…with everything. Nothing else to really do until I start at Tech.

Rickdust - you mean you’ve already done the essay for honors?

Not yet but that’s a fairly small essay (1200 characters, that’s barely a tweet), and it’s only a one time thing. The possibility to do things like high stakes interviews, etc in competition with world-class students is very exciting and would get my blood pumping much more than a one-time essay or anything that’s left in hs.

Although, I did just look at the past course offerings and came up with the seeds of, imo, a monster of a good essay. I wish that it was longer than 1200 characters, but I’ll make do.

Wow, well I hope you get in. Sounds like you would really enjoy the process.

Hmm…I wonder how many other kids are looking forward to writing that honors essay…

@franeighbor : welcome to gmt+8 ! Where Americans waiting for college decisions here camp out in front of their laptops in the middle of the night …

Guess who’s not started her honors essay ??? :p

I’m not really sure at what time the emails go out?

Can anyone confirm it is 5 or 6, as posted before?

If you look at the website it says 5:00 EST. Good luck! I’m not expecting my son to be a semi-finalist. I think the competition is pretty steep.

Did anyone get an email for scholarships in your area?

^yep, I got one
