<p>Congratulations again on your recent acceptance to Georgia Tech! I sincerely hope you will choose to attend, as I am confident you would greatly enjoy your Tech experience and thrive on campus. </p>

<p>Because of the large number of incredibly talented applicants and the limited number of scholarship spaces available, we are unable to advance your application for this scholarship to the next round.</p>

<p>After receiving 9,000 applications for our President’s Scholarship Program, we named a little more than 500 semifinalists. We made our decisions based on a review of high school coursework, writing ability, leadership impact, and test scores. No one factor alone determined the outcomes. </p>

<p>For context, please note this number of semifinalists is equivalent to an average of:</p>

<p>fewer than seven students per state, and
about one student for every seven Georgia high schools.
Despite this news, I write to assure you that we very much want you to attend Georgia Tech. I came to Tech with the firm belief that we must work diligently to attract top students like you in order for the Institute to maintain its position as a world-class educational leader in the twenty-first century. </p>

<p>D did not make it. Trying to decline admission offer to open up spot for someone else but it insists I chose a college she’s attending, have to phone. Stats 4.0 UW, 2280(720/790/7770) and 35(36/36/36/33) single sitting, 800 SAT Math2, 8 AP’s, plays half a dozen instruments, NMSF, etc. OOS-WI</p>

<p>I am pleased to inform you that you have been named as a semifinalist in this year’s President’s Scholarship selection process! </p>

<p>This is a remarkable achievement given the strong competition this year – just over 500 semifinalists were chosen from among almost 9,000 applications.</p>

<p>Below are important steps you MUST take to complete the next round of the selection process:</p>

<p>Prepare a one-page resume (information exceeding one page will be discarded) and email it in pdf format to <a href=“mailto:psp@gatech.edu”>psp@gatech.edu</a> by January 18 with the subject line: “PS Resume.”
Complete an online or in-person interview. You will receive a phone call by January 18 with interview details. Your interview will be on one of four dates: Jan. 26, Jan. 27, Feb. 2, or Feb. 3. Interviews will be conducted in person locally where possible, but otherwise via online video. (Your Regional Committee will give you directions to the interview site or details as to which free online service [e.g., Skype, Google Hangout, Oovoo] will be used. You may need to sign up for an account and have access to a Web cam.)
About 100 finalists will be chosen to come to Georgia Tech for interviews on March 8-9, 2013. Please save the date so you will be available should you advance to the final stage of the selection process.
