*****2013 October 16th PSAT Answers*****

If I got a 204 on the practice test they gave us, could I expect something around a 212 on this test?

Does anyone else feel like it will have a generous curve? I mean the CR section just sucked balls. Math was relatively easy and grammar was pretty basic.

Jasian, I think answer choice D was a fragment

Nevermind, guys. Absent-minded mistake… It’s not submissive…acquiesce.

Come to think, was the first word in that answer choice even submissive?

i think the cr will have a pretty good curve, it seemed a lot harder than usual, esp. vocab. for me. math was easy and writing was pretty easy too except for like 3 questions

For the music, I put that the paragraph started out objective and became subjective at the end. Anyone else?

Yea after looking at all of these posts for CR, I missed A LOT.
For math I know I missed 3 MC and 1 grid in
and Writing I may have missed like 2-3

At this point I am just hoping to get commended.

@Karnier - You’re thinking of a different question, music was reaction. But there was another question with obj/subj and I chose that!

Yeah i missed a ton of CR… like 7-8.
2 in math.
0 in writing so far.
any chance i will meet 218 cutoff?

@sjwon
I completely agree with you! I definitately thought that this writing PSAT portion was so much harder than other PSATs I normally finished with like 5 mins to spare on other tests but this one I was stuck on quite a few… I know I missed at least 2 :(

@DumbandLethal

Yeah I’m not even sure if submissive…acquiesce was an option. Other people said it was a choice so I was just refuting it. The debate seemed to deal with the meaning of “active participation” in the meeting; does speaking on behalf of the parents constitute active participation or passivity? I have come to conclude the former, because that is really what school board meetings are all about, to the best of my knowledge. I can totally see how some people would see that as “following orders” or something to that effect, but in my mind a passive role would be to be quiet and take notes or something.

I don’t know what the correct answer is but I don’t think even the sentence for that question has been worded right here. I don’t think there was a ‘not’ but idk. Hard test :(

Comparing the CR to the actual SAT, would this PSAT be considered easier? I found the vocab and the comprehension to be easier…

@ nicobella

There may not have been a “not,” but the word “unaccustomed” was used, followed by a “did not” preceding the second blank.

I don’t think it said unaccustomed? Would love verification just because I’m curious now

Especially since earlier I believe it was you that said it was a double negative? So confused :frowning: December come sooner!

^^ I’m with this guy.

Right, I believe it was a double negative. Unaccustomed is a negative, and did not is a negative.

@nicobella I read the problem 1000 times and I am 100% sure it said “unaccustomed”. I was stuck on that one for a while.

@ nainaigogo

Thanks for that confirmation.

Alright thanks nainaigogo :)
