Triangle question I got 9.

@john - I did the same thing you did. Not sure about the sum, though…if it was 140, then my answer was 124.

Last question before I get a life: what did you all put for that math question dealing with the median? I think I put B, whatever that was - 3, 4, 6, or something.

what a homosexual psat! hopefully the curve is harsh like it normally is?

I put 2 for the median question. I forget what the groups of numbers were, but I think 4 was the acutal median, and 2 was the value of x.

@catchinginfinity: I said 2 for that one.

For the computer lab one, I said 124. For the triangle one, I put either 6 or 9…can’t remember off the top of my head.

@john
Yes that’s right

yeah it was A) 2.

@auditi

you can technically just draw from the triangle given lol (what i did cuz i was lazy). it was 9.

Yeah, I think you’re all right…it was 2, and then for the second group you had to multiply it or something.

Yeah, you were adding x to the first list, and 2x to the second list.

The triangle one is clearly 9. I solved it in two ways. First, I drew out the nine triangles like sjwon3789 did. Second, I realized that area is proportional to the square of length. Since 12 is 3 times greater than 4, its area is 9 (3^2) times greater.

Was the triangle one mutliple choice or free answer I think i remember putting 9 but i didn’t put 9 on any of the free answer bubbles…

^The triangle one was multiple choice.

what about the writing MC about the revision to sentence 7(improving paragraps)? was it “delete has” or "add “to” "? I put delete “has”, and so did some other people, but i know several who put “add to”

i put delete has…

Although “add ‘to’” would make sense, as it would keep the parallel structure of the sentence, the verb “has” needed to be deleted as it didn’t make senses since the rest of the passage was in the past tense.

I don’t think you’re supposed to talk about this. And won’t it just raise the cutoff scores in your state?

@WantARainbow
No, Saturday’s exam is different. And attention to discussion of PSAT questions is at the bottom of College Board’s totem pole. What’s done is done; discussing the questions won’t matter.

I mean, everyone’s taking the PSAT at the same time… I see no reason why we can’t discuss about it. And how are the curves decided? Do they work similarly like the SAT: a group of people are tested beforehand?

Oh okay good to know thanks

@sjwon3789, curves are not finalized until after scores are recieved, they are pretty much already set. heres a post to how the sat is scored, which is probably similar to psat [PWN the SAT: Is the SAT graded on a curve?](http://blog.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2011/02/is-sat-graded-on-curve.html#.Ul9b3VAsma8)
