Anyone know the GA cutoff for the class of 2014? (2012 test)

What was the full problem for the eighth grid in?

Guys, for the curves, you have to remember that there are only 70% of the questions on the PSAT, meaning that the curves missed for each question missed are much harder. Realistically, I could see -2 being an 800, but it’s still unlikely.

For the translator passage with Gen and Mr. Hosokawa it comes from an actual novel called Bel Canto. Gen Watanabe (the translator) is NOT a figment of Mr. Hosokawa’s mind, but an actual, living, breathing character. So, I’m assuming that that whole “imagine” answer choice is incorrect and Collegeboard was just pulling our legs.

Does anyone know where the passage about the cow being donated to the zoo was from? Also what was the answer to the triangle with one side 2 another 7 and what was x? How many choices were possible for x? I remember x had to be less than something but I forgot what the restrictive was?

And what was the opinion of the author on the senators action of bringing in a cow? Did he find it amusing?

@Janetho, if I’m thinking of the same question, I believe I put “conspicuous”

Here’s a question that needs to be discussed:
On the mehndi/henna passage’s question about how the author of passage 1 would react to those who appreciate henna exclusively for its aesthetic qualities, was it either…
A) They are missing out on other important aspects of henna
B) They are forming an intimate connection and appreciation of henna

I have an opinion on this, but I want to see what you guys think first.

It is definitely A because if they only got hennas just to look good then they wouldn’t care about or know about what hennas truly mean

For the one about integer x between 2 and 8 being part of a triangle with other sides 2 and 7, I put two because x can be 6 or 7 in order to meet the specifications.

This psat was significantly harder than any of the ones I’ve ever taken :(

Apropos of the mendhi story, what did you guys put for what the authors agreed on? I put that it is a cultural phenomenon or something like that.

What was the questions for Roman numeral question? I though the question asked that which of the following could be true
Ix>y II x<y and="" iii="" x+1="" x<="" or="">(FOR GOT IT)y-1/y</y>

Ithink that they gave us possible values for x and y like x>0 or something…

and what was the answer

For the triangle of X being between 2 and 8 and the 2 sides of the triangle being 2 and 7, i put that there were 4 answers. It doesn’t specify WHICH sides are 2 and 7, which means that 7 could be a leg or the hypotenuse.

If 7 is the hypotenuse, then 3 and 4 both work
If 7 is the leg, than 6 and 7 both work.

I got all three were correct for that questiom

Given a triangle ABC, the sum of the lengths of any two sides of the triangle must be greater than the length of the third side.
3 and 4 couldn’t work, as 3 + 2 < 7, and 4 + 2 < 7, so the triangle would not be possible.

I still think the answer is two.

i am not sure. i heard someone said I II III , I III AND I …

Does anyone remember the exact wording of the writing question involving the city council or whatever it was?

Since 2,7,and x are three sides of the trigangle. x is an integer so x can only be 9>x>5
6,7,8 but8> x>2 so only 6 and 7 work.

@dn4144 It went something like this:
We (A) are meeting with the … to advise that …some documents (C) long since defunct… (D) be carefully preserved.

did the author of the passage think that the action of donating the cow was amusing? or insolent? i’m not talking about the conspicuous question
