Hi! My J son just toured a couple schools and he wants to major in BME. He was impressed with USC’s Engineering facitlites and internships. He could only atttend USC if he recieved the 50% tuition award or greater, and he probably missed the OR NMSF cutoff by 1-2 questions and 3-5 points.
I read the page on the USC top awards and it says they only go to the students in the top 1% of entrance exam scores. He just took the March SAT and scored a solid 2190 (Math- 740, CR- 740, Wr- 710) and on the SAT subject tests Math Level 2: 800, Physics 730 (from 10th grade). Does he really need to try to retake the SAT’s to qualify to interview for 50% off tuition? He has a 3.8/4 unweighted GPA Honors/AP track, 2 varsity sports, NHS and an Engineering internship for the past 2 summers. He would rather focus on studying for his AP Calc, Physics and US History exams coming up, then take a testing break! Junior year has been sunch a grind for him, but he really liked what he saw at USC!
Any advice would be appreciated!
