2014 1st Semester Parent's Discussion

I won’t be there for Parents Weekend, so I will miss the CC bash. Somebody take good notes! And hug my D for me!

How do students get discount tickets for Nashville Symphony ? West side story is on 9/5 and 9/6 but no mention of student tickets.

The Nashville Symphony offers Vandy students tickets @ $10 each. The symphony website says they have to be ordered 2 weeks in advance. I’d call their ticket office and ask if student tickets are available for this show. They may be lenient since school just started and kids are just now figuring out what is available.

I’ll be there most of the day Friday, and at the game Saturday. I’m going to be volunteering at check in on Friday morning, but I’ll be free from about 9:30 to 11:30. I’d love to meet someone for breakfast at Provence or somewhere to fill the time! I was also thinking of going for a walk inCentennial park. My girls will be singing that night with the symphonic choir, so I’ll be at that for sure! I’m thinking @KaMaMom‌’s daughter is singing, too? Feel free to PM me if you’d like to meet up… Or just respond here!

@moonpie I’m volunteering at check in too. But I’m working from 9 AM until 12 PM. Looks like I’ll be turning over to you. I was looking to schedule a meet up for around 1 PM, but you will probable still be volunteering.

thanks @LHSC for the shuttle tips. My s finishes classes at 1:00 so I guess I should visit with him  maybe some other point over the weekend. I could possibly meet before 1:00 if others could?

@moonpie … yes, my D is singing but we won’t be arriving in Nashville til most likely around 3p on Friday. And then we will be leaving first thing Sunday morning (D has to work at 9am anyway) … so very quick trip. Hope some of the 18 parents can meet up!

We need to have some sort of button or ribbon pinned to us indicating we are CC parents! We will be at registration bright and early on Friday morning. I don’t want to be yelling through the crowd…hey, Moonpie! Hey, go9ers! Thougths? It would be so fun for all of us to finally connect!

I’ll be there for the training at 8:30, then need to pass the time for a few hours till my shift starts at 11:00. We could put a “CC” on our name tags?

CC on the nametag sounds great. I’ll also be there for the 8:30 AM training. Moonpie - Does your volunteer session start at 11:00 AM or 11:30 AM?

I’m thinking that we have a drop in meet up between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM in front of Sarrett where you’ll pick up your Family Weekend information or in the lobby if it is just too hot.

Looking forward to meeting some of you.

I may not make it in for training… My youngest and I are both sick. I’m going to sleep now in hopes of being all better tomorrow!

My shift is 11:30 -2:30. Not going to training! But feeling much better today! Yay! I’m wearing a long black knit skirt, and when I’m not wearing my red volunteer shirt, I have a black tank with little white flowers on it. Blond hair, readers on if I’m at a table , hope to meet some of you!

Anyone up for meeting up tomorrow?

Was anyone able to meet up?

@moonpie … the concert Friday was AMAZING! Loved the orchestra … and the conductor!

Unfortunately, due to a minor medical emergency (which ended up being very minor - but we erred on the side of caution) we had to leave Saturday morning for the trek back home. So we missed most of the weekend! :(

And today is D’s birthday … first birthday without her! Her sister is having Jake’s Bakes delivered for her this evening though.

Hope everyone had a great time and a safe trip home!

@KaMaMom‌ I met @Go9ersjrh‌ at the end of my shift, she’s as adorable in person as you would expect! I volunteered with a hilarious couple from MA and schooled them on southern terms such as “strapping on the feedbag=very hungry” and “meat and three= meat with 3 sides” … I thought everyone knew this! We had such a good time greeting all the parents. I was also amazed that the concert was that good just a few weeks into school. I actually teared up a few times I was so moved! My girls are both altos and were side by side on front row. I wonder if our girls know each other yet? Hubs and I went to the game together, and then I took my youngest to the Ed Sheeran concert with the middle that night, so it was a very busy day. I put a CC on my name tag and that’s how go9er found me : )

I put CC on my nametag but did not run into anyone because of it. I did meet jrmama496 because I knew her son is in the Melodores and I looked for her at Fall For the Arts and the Athenian Sing. Melodores were GREAT! and the BhangaDores were very fun to watch. The BhangaDores took first place and the Melodores took second at the Athenian Sing. I’d say it was a pretty tough call to make between the two.

I caught the last 45 minutes of Chancellor Zeppos’ talk. I always enjoy hearing him.

The game looked dismal until the final quarter. Hopefully this win will give them some confidence.

It was great meeting you @GoDoresx2! Hopefully we will have the opportunity to watch the boys perform again before the end of the school year.

I didn’t get see those of you working at registration because I registered late in the day and I knew your shifts were over.

Parents Weekend was very nice. I got to spend quite a bit of time with my son. I took him shopping for some things he needed and took him, his roommate, and a couple of other hall mates to dinner.

We didn’t go to the game because I didn’t think it would be fun for my son to just sit with me without his friends around. Next year, I think I will encourage him to find a group of friends and their parents that want to sit together so they can buy tickets for everyone together.

It was difficult to say goodbye since I know that I will probably not see him again until Thanksgiving. Ten weeks seems like such a long time. I wonder if saying goodbye gets any easier with time.

Front row for the Brahm’s? My D was in front row, alto also! @moonpie

@88momof5‌ too funny! I’m guessing our girls know each other : ) next year we will do better about a meet up!

Anchor Dash before this Saturday’s game vs South Carolina!

Family Weekend was terrific – Vandy did a nice job with programs, tailgate, and all. Daughter very happy & mostly healthy – allergies in full swing, unfortunately. What a great place though…. We can’t wait to go back.
