I just realized that Andover - Lawrenceville - Exeter spell out ALE. Uno mas acronym!

Thanks for sharing!

My pleasure.

@mrnephew Wait what? I meant that to @TheLawrentian… :-?

In either scenario, it is always my pleasure to share.

:O) :@)

:p :@)

Haha <:-P

Yeah tbh I knew this list was messed up when I saw that Exeter had a 12% acceptance rate (it’s like 20%, right??)
but it’s ranked number 1 so I have to agree with this list completely
hehehehehehehe

also yeah guys don’t apply to schools based on rankings alone, you have to have some sort of connection to the school. You can’t just say “these schools are in the top 6 so I will apply to those top six”. I can’t tell you right now I’d never fit at Groton or Milton, which is why I didn’t apply there.

The important thing to note is that this whole ranking schools thing is just to attract students. But I think if you’re actually smart, you’d know that it’s a bunch of baloney and that you should go to your favorite school, even if it is considered a “no-name” school.

Of course this is coming from someone who only wanted to apply to schools in the top 20 (or 25) in a rank list I saw. (Don’t be me haha)

Any list can’t be flawless and everybody knows that. Perhaps that is why people here share their experiences and help prospective candidates with their school selection process. As for the list itself, I would like to see rankings based on several different criteria such as top friendly list, top college matriculation list, top arts, top music, etc. But then again I know it could be fairly subjective.

Yeah, my parents wanted me to apply to Top 5-10. Rankings are debatable of course, but you know, the general HADES and ALE and GLADCHEMMS ~

Sure, do it, but don’t do it because it’s in a cool acronym like ALE. ~:> X(

ALE schools for the win !! :D

this list makes me mad :P

Ranking discussions are the digital equivalent of sticking your finger down your throat.

ThacherParent, that was kind of my original point. If everybody could just take the lists with a grain of salt, there wouldn’t be such anger at each other (and at the schools) about what’s on them.

Personally- I prefer schools that aren’t Tourist Traps.

@boardingjunkie why would you not fit at Groton or Milton?

@needtoboard they’re just aren’t the fit for me (that’s what I meant to say). A better example would have been Deerfield… It feels too preppy for me!

Yeah I crossed Deerfield right off my list after seeing their viewbook @boardingjunkie. I did not want anything that preppy :P

Sorry, I can’t put much stock in a test prep company that doesn’t understand basic statistics. For instance they say that “The majority of Andover’s college matriculation also consists of the Ivies, Stanford and Georgetown.”

Nope. It’s about 28 percent. According to PA’s published matriculations stats, 283 kids matriculated at these 10 schools over the past 3 years. Last year’s graduating class was 338 students. 338x3=1014, 283/1014=27.9
Obviously excellent college matriculations, but not what this company claims.
