Discussion for everyone applying for the 2014 Burger King Scholarship. Deadline is January 10th, 2014. Good luck!!

Does anyone have information about what “supporting documentation” is allowed in addition to the transcript?

@Lizzy5851 I put the transcript only. It doesn’t ask for anything else so, while I do find it odd that they wouldn’t want a copy of our SAT scores, I suggest just put the transcript.

I sent my transcript but also sent my r

I read somewhere that applicants to this scholarships will be notified of their status via email in early March 2014.

Hey y’all! I applied to this scholarship. I heard the range is from one to fifty thousand dollars, so I’m totally excited! Good luck!

You too!

has anyone heard back yet?

nope, not yet!

Believe it is suppose to be in march though.

March is correct

My D got an email earlier in February asking her to confirm the BK franchise that she works for. Unfortunately, that franchise is not one of the scholarship sponsors on the application list which was why she marked “other” on the application. So I would guess her chances of winning one of the employee scholarships would Is dead in the water. There’s still hope for the non-employee scholarship though.

Will we hear back even if we don’t win?

I believe so.

The website says that everyone should be notified about his or her status in late March… Best of luck to everyone who applied! :)

Regarding merit based scholarship monies, if a student has been offered money from a college and also receives money from the Burger King Scholarship does that reduce what the school will offer you? I think this is true of need based but wasn’t sure about merit based scholarship offers from schools. Anyone know?

Generally the outside scholarship will first replace what you had to pay (the family contribution), then replace the loans/workstudy if there’s any left. If there is still outside scholarship money, then the school will probably reduce their own grant. Each school differs of course, so check their individual policy.

We will be informed via email and regular mail right? It should be coming out this week or next week!

I check my e-mail like constantly every day. There is two or three other scholarship notifications that should be coming out to me around this time as well. Tired of waiting. Want answers.

Anyone heard anything yet?
