does anyone here know if all of the admitted ED1 students for 2014 were already called?

My son received that same phone call from his admissions counselor at Stevens, however nobody was home to answer the home phone so he left a message to call back. We are happily assuming that they would not call with bad news. Safe to assume it was a good news call?

I have no idea if all calls were made yesterday. It’s not a huge number of people, so it is possible.

Mailings are supposed to get to people by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Pikabhu I will answer housing questions in another thread.

Oh my god…who were your admission counselors? I never got a call and now I’m really worried.

humpty dumpty I am not sure who called my son. She said her name but we both forgot it. It was not his assigned counselor.

Don’t worry, if you are a competitive student and don’t make the ED1 round, they will tell you that you will be reevaluated for ED2. They told us that the official mailings would be out early next week. So figure Tuesday/Wednesday.

Stevens is a small school so they are not admitting that many people in each round. But if you are a competitive student, your chances in ED1 and ED2 are much better than regular decision, according to what they told us at the event we attended in September.

Congrats to people who got and will get in!

I’m applying RD and I still have to schedule for an interview.

Oh my god I’m so worried, I haven’t received a phone call or anything…

I just have no idea how this could’ve happened. I have a 4.2 gpa, I’m graduating as a junior, I’m a girl, and I’m in all AP, level 5, or honors classes. I attended the summer program too!

I wouldn’t stress about it; if you are competitive for ED1 or 2 you should get in. Did you look at your school’s Naviance page? You should be able to see scattergrams that show where admitted students fall, stat-wise.

Maybe cutoffs for ED1 are stricter than for ED2? Someone says they were told that there was a ‘technical glitch’ in the mailing system, which is why they were making phone calls. Maybe all the calls didn’t get made? No one knows right now.

You can always send an email to your admissions counselor.

I did look at the scattergrams, I was sure to get in. I just really shouldn’t have been so devoted.

hd your best bet is to speak to your admissions counselor. That is the only person who can accurately answer your questions.

I just emailed the counselor who I interviewed with and have had significant email contact with. I really hope that he gets back sometime over the weekend, because being stuck in limbo over the weekend like this is terrible. :(

BTW, SAT superscore is 1350/1600, GPA 3.69, AP classes and plenty of ECs, so I always presumed that my chances were solid if anything. The scattergram said so at least.

I just got the call of acceptance! To those of you who are worrying, be somewhat assured that they are not done calling.

Thank you for posting that, rezallak.

~Congratulations~

Congratulations to all who got in. Any tips for those who are applying ED2? How was the interview (should a guy wear a suit), and to those that applied through the common app, can you please inform me about the Financial Aid process, and how it works? I would really appreciate it.

AfghanPhenom I will start a new thread for interview questions and financial aid.

ED2: If Stevens is your first choice, and you do not want to compare all offers, ED2 would be a good option. They told us at one event that admissions percentages for both ED1 and ED2 were higher than for regular decision.

They will send your financial package (merit and need estimate) with your acceptance. ED2 may be better for the student who really wants to go to Stevens, but wants to be able to compare a few other offers. NJ Schools like Rutgers, NJIT, & Monmouth University will probably give you aid decisions before the ED2 deadline, so you can compare a few offers. Your Stevens ED2 decision is binding upon receipt of your deposit. Once you are accepted, you will have approximately 3 weeks (from what I was told at the interview) to make your final decision and submit your deposit.

I remember last year some students with very good stats posting here that they were rejected in the regular decision round. I think that a lot of students use Stevens as a safety but it’s not a good idea because Stevens is small. It’s not like a big state university, where there are so many slots available that you can reasonably use it as a safety. Rutgers may not run out of spaces for strong students, but Stevens will run out of spaces, even though your stats are strong. They just don’t have the capacity of a big state university.

My child got phone call yesterday as well!
