We are in MD and have not heard yet. 1470 combined SAT, 3.92/4.43, 17/540 rank, STEM magnet school, 11 AP, AP scholar with distinction, 2 varsity sports and a state championship. Hoping for scholars and significant merit. Underwhelmed by RPI offer.

Fast505 mail will probably take an extra day to reach you. I’m guessing he will get a nice award and Scholars. The weather is better at Stevens anyway. Good luck!

edit I see he got 33.5k at RPI. That’s pretty good for a private. I would expect the same ballpark from SIT.

We heard Friday, and we live a short drive away. You should receive mail on Monday.
We were thrilled with RPI’s 25K award. We were startled to get slightly more from Stevens.

@rualum - My GPA was only a rough estimate. Previous 3 years my GPA was around a 3.6 UW, but got 2 70s first semester of my senior year which brought it down (not sure how much though). Also, I had a 1470 CR+M and my school doesn’t do class rank so I guess the cutoff for Scholars was pretty darn high this year. If I attend though, I’ll be working hard to get that 3.8 GPA first semester that’s required for Scholars.

I was offered a $30.9k scholarship and invitation to the Scholars Program
SAT: 2160 (750 M, 680 CR, 730 W)
SAT II: Math II (760), Chemistry (800)
GPA: 3.71 (UW), 4.161 (W)
Rank: 24/360

@Fast505 -My D had very similar stats (except 2 state championships-bragging sorry) and got scholars and very large merit so you should be fine. She will also play at least one sport .
@Rualum-Hoboken beats Troy for weather and location

@rualum RPI only gave him $16k for Medalist and $9K grant. Rest was loans. First of 4 kids so hard for me to come up with $$. Was hoping for more than that from the medalist award. I’m a Stevens grad (ME) with ties so hoping that helps.

Son’s 29000 presidential award is per year for 5 years if he does the 4+1 masters. His CR+ M was 1410 (CR740 M 670 W 740) he was not offered scholars, so I think they must also look at class rank or academic rigor. Son took no APs or honors.

Acceptance came today. Scholars, $32K Presidential Scholarship and $5.5k in federal loans. $37.5K total award. Slightly better than RPI with added benefit of scholars program.

Accepted today, was offered 4+1 masters.Got the presidential scholarship. Does anyone know if the presidential scholarship is renewable?

Accepted today! Stats: 3.8 GPA Math: 600 Reading: 600 Writing:590; Great community service and extracurriculars

Interestingly, our Stevens hit our “Estimated Family Contribution” as calculated on the button. Coincidence?

I agree with previous comments that need plays into merit scholarship at some level. I’m sure there are other contributing factors too (sports, essay, interview).

accepted today with scholars and 36K presidential scholarship! definitely was not expecting this! :)

The Presidential is new this year from what I can see. Didn’t notice it last year. http://www.stevens.edu/development/president-s-initiative It is need/merit combo. Congratulations to those who got it, 30kish is a nice amount to get.

Good for you, Stevens! I like your priorities!

Well, phooey. My son was admitted and offered the scholars program, but there was no mention of merit aid at all. There was a sheet that said the financial aid decision was not ready yet, but I wonder if that’s only need-based aid. We won’t qualify for need-based aid, but without a merit award Stevens won’t be competitive from a financial standpoint. This was one of his very high choices, too.

RPIAlum if he was admitted to Scholars he will get merit, don’t worry.

anyone in Massachusetts get their decision yet?

Congrats to all of you who were accepted! Hope to see you guys next year. :)

I have a question for those of you who registered for accepted students day… I was accepted EDII and sent in my deposit (they confirmed that they got it). I want to register for the accepted students day but the website says
“As a reminder, only students accepted into the incoming class of 2014 should be registering for this event. We have other events listed on our website for prospective students. Please do not create a new account to login, but refer to the email you were sent inviting you to our accepted students events which included your username and instructions regarding resetting your password if necessary.” So does this mean they have to e-mail you your account information before you can sign up, or can you just create a new account? I have not received anything but my financial aid packet info. with a paper invitation to the accepted students day, but it didn’t say anything about them giving me an account.
Thanks for your help!

@RPIAlum86 He will definitely get merit. I know people who got in and got 30k but not into Scholars.
