2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread

Sounds right thats when I got my acceptance

@collegewiz were there a lot of acceptances?

is anybody else having trouble logging into their accounts? could this be a sign more admissions to come today?

Decision: Accepted

UC GPA: 3.06
IGETC: Complete
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): N
Intended Major: Mathematics
TAG?: No
IGETC?: To be completed in spring
Extracurriculars: WORK
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Ethnicity: Filipina
Gender: Female
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Yes.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):
A lot of effed up bull**** in my life.

Really? A 3.0?!?!?! That gives me a little hope.

Congrats though!

yeah that’s crazy! Congrats nonetheless!

Congrats! i feel like its all a numbers game though :’(

Thanks! Good luck to everyone though! Keep your head up high, everyone has a chance!

& I really appreciate this forum, haha. It’s kept me “in the know” for the last couple of weeks.

So approximately 3 weeks until the next batch? That’s discouraging.

Spouse has already been rejected from SDSU for TAG (we think due to major being impacted and lack of major pre-reqs). At UCSD major is not impacted, and doesn’t seem to have the same pre-req requirements tied to TAG. Everyone says TAG is guaranteed, but SDSU was the safety and already got a no! Not sure what waiting another 3 weeks is going to do to my blood pressure. We are locals who can’t just pick up and go to any random college in the state. Ugh wish they would release more today! Thanks all on this thread for keeping me kind of sane and something to look at while waiting.

Decision: Accepted

UC GPA: 3.86
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): Yes except 1 optional.
Intended Major: Psychology
TAG?: Yes
IGETC?: Yes
College: Muir

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): Worked for a year at the counseling office at college. Had some other misc. volunteer activities and what not. Nothing extraordinary in my opinion but decent.
Additional Details:
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): Ca
Country (if international applicant): n.a
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: $2,114/ I think ~$50,000 income bracket or in that area.
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): I will try to. Also depends on whether UCLA and Cal admit me or not.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): TAG played a huge part obviously; sorry future applicants! I am really pleased I got in to my major and college of choice since those aren’t guaranteed. I think I had an overall solid application and am really pleased to be accepted!

I’m in the clouds right now I can’t believe it :)!

i have a 3.98 and I haven’t heard back from UCSD, so i don’t think it’s strictly GPA based on which people get notified first.

No its not based on GPA mine is 4.0 and i didnt here back

I’m a 4.0 as well and haven’t heard nada. But I do have a year of OOS schooling behind me, even though I applied as a CCC student. I’m hoping that’s the reason for the delay :/

maybe b/c im an international student but applied as a ccc student too

It isn’t based on GPA. I think it’s completely random for the most part.

I called admissions today and asked about the notification process. The lady told me that very few transfers have been notified so far. The bulk of transfer applicants are going to all be notified on a set day somewhere towards the second week of April. They’re going to still trickle out some admissions before that still.

My blood pressure will raise exponentially by then :((((

@efrumz - thanks for the update. Some news is better than no news. I’m hoping she means around the 5th of April which would agree with what’s happened in years prior, rather than the 18th which is I think the last batch.

@Taylorsams13 - I agree, I am losing my sanity in this waiting!

!!!Accepted!!!

UC GPA:

IGETC?: Yes
GPA: UC 3.8-3.9/ CSU 3.7
College: Muir
Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): just a part-time job which had me a bit worried!
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant):CA
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender:Female
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket:230
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Most likely

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):
My GPA was pretty strong but I strongly believe your personal statement is the most crucial, especially now! I’ve had a pretty difficult childhood and my PS was probably the most honest, heartfelt paper I have ever written. I will probably never know what was the underlying factor for my admission but I am incredibly happy right now!!! I also want to mention that I failed all of my classes my first 2semesters at a CC. So in case some of you are worried about W’s and F’s, don’t be. It’s all about showing them your progress and a turn around in academics (something I HAD to include in my PS as well). Anyway, I wish all of you who are anxiously waiting, and future applicants, the best of luck:)
