@Matt4200, you clearly did not read the thread. So I will say it again. You only have to maintain a 3.5 GPA through the fall. In the spring semester you only have to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. UCSD does not review applications after the spring semester.

@Marmaneous Disregard everything Matt4200 has said. To quote another user on here "You get a new, “updated” GPA of 3.0 to maintain once you get your admission, even if you got in through TAG.

simply for UCSD you are out from TAG. They will still consider you as a normal applicant and will go through your application. good luck!!”

And the UCSD TAG agreement says the 3.5 must be maintained through Spring 14. Not that you start over or anything else.,

The User posted that because he didn’t read all of my post. Once you get an acceptance decision, UCSD will send you an updated GPA. My source is a UCSD admission counselor.

@CollegeDropout1 - “assumption that UCSD also follows this method”

You’re assuming this.

Also are you stating that UCSD has no right to rescind a TAG admission should the applicant fall below the 3.5 in spring? If so that laughable because the TAG is essentially a contract and it’s clear in what it says.

If you can show proof such as a picture of something stating that even though you are admitted through the TAG program you are only required to maintain a 3.0+ In the spring semester.
I’ll admit you’re right and you’ll have sufficiently proven your point.

All UC’s review the personal statement. I think the way they weigh may differ from one uc to another. I don’t think they would make us waste our time to write the personal statement.

Look at page 8,9 regarding personal statements. Also, this PDF file is by the UC’s. According to the PDF, for UCSD, it says that they don’t take PS into account for the admission decision.

But, on page 41, @Matt4200 said the following when talking to a UCSD rep:

“Additionally she told me that admissions reps do take personal statements into account if you are considered disadvantaged like you’re returning to school after a long lapse, your a single parent, foster youth/ward of court, or a few other reasons.”

So, it looks like PS is only taken into account for very valid excuse or something.

@kb, no need to bash on the school. With that kind of attitude, I don’t think they would even admit you. be modest and grateful for the opportunity that you even got to apply!

@kb242014 I havent gotten my decision yet but will likely be rejected because I have not completed my stats class yet currently in progress… However I applied knowing this, since i had read it on here and spoke to several reps before applying. Im not mad at all, since I can always appeal it. Of course it sucks i wish i would have completed math by Fall……but I would never bash a school that others consider a there dream school…or future school…thats not cool at all…im sure you will get into other schools… but don’t be mean about it. UCSB is a good school thats why anyone who applied to it…well applied because they wanted to go there…me included.

^ This. @kb242014 you should really tone down the negativity. Getting into a 4 year university is a respectable accomplishment, regardless of what your opinion is of that school. I can see your frustrations with their admissions process, but this is besides the point. Minimizing or putting down the work that other applicant’s have put in to get to this point is a poor attitude to have in the midst of all this.

@kb242014 You sound an awful lot like a sore loser. Your obsession with using ellipsis throughout your sentences is just as terrible as you think UCSB is.

I couldn’t care less if you believe me or not. Believe whatever you want, whoever you want. Just don’t be completely shocked that your “incredible personal statement” didn’t make up for your lackluster GPA. A 3.2~ is pushing it for SD. If you look at last year’s decisions, many people who got rejected or waitlisted were around that range. Just informing you about the reality here, as bad as it sounds.

Based on your crass posts, you’re acting like I’m making this **** up and pulling it out of my ass. You have 2 sources that back up what I say, the UCSD transfer admissions website and a PDF from the UC website. Regardless, good luck. You’re gonna need it.

Yeah, I edited it a few times to add something or change the wording on something else. It’s late and I’ve had a long day, I think it’s fine now.

Ohhh man, this wait is going to make all my hair fall out! UCSD is my dream school. I want to get in very badly and its a long shot but I still have hope haha. That post above is definitely is a scary one^^. If anyone could take a moment and chance me, that would help me out a lot. 3.31 GPA , I CCC transfer student applying for the human development major. Starting off in CC I had a rough time and got some bad grades. Weak GPA. Although I do have a good grade trend. Have had a 4.0 the last 3 years. What do you think? Any chance?

The last 3 pages of this thread lol. Anyways, if we’re going by the release dates from the previous year, 2nd batch should be next week, no? My last day to W date is coming up and I wish I knew my admission status before I made a decision.
